We're proud to have our history so closely intertwined with our nation's, from building and launching American ships, to producing uniforms and flags for soldiers, to providing thousands of New Yorkers with quality jobs today. Today marks 110 years since the USS Arizona was launched at the Brooklyn Navy Yard! As one of two Pennsylvania class battleships, she was a symbol of American strength and protected Americans living in Greece during the Greco-Turkish war. She was even featured in the 1934 rom-com "Here Comes the Navy" starring James Cagney before finally being reassigned to the Pacific Fleet Command in Hawaii in 1940.

Behind the business is a deeply personal story. Melissa credits her passion for baking to time spent in the kitchen with her late mother, Monshelia, the inspiration behind the bakery’s name.

75 years ago, the week of April 1 - 8 in 1951 was declared "Brooklyn Navy Yard Week" by Thomas E. Dewey, Governor of the state of New York. The proclamation recognized the Yard at that time as one of the largest industrial plants in the state and the largest shipyard in the country. Today, we continue to carry out this historic legacy as a center for modern industry and manufacturing, and a hub for job creation.
