BWAC Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition

BWAC Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition BWAC: a non profit gallery in Red Hook, Bklyn providing thousands of artists space to exhibit yearly

BWAC’s 25,000 square foot gallery is in a Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront. The vista of New York Harbor, spanning the Statue of Liberty to the Verrazano Bridge is one of the best in the city. Our 18,000 annual visitors also enjoy the nearby restaurants, bars, IKEA and Fairway Market. With every medium and style of artwork represented, as well as the free BWAC Red Hook Waterfront Performance Series, our shows are as spectacular as the setting.

The BWAC team has been searching Brooklyn to find a space to continue offering NYC artists and beyond a place to exhibit their work, foster professional development and continue the great community that BWAC has always supported for the past 48 years. We have a great offer in an amazing space we would love to sign the lease on but we need a last push to afford it! Please consider donating so we reopen permanently this September!

This piece is one of our member’s pieces featured in our upcoming member’s show, “New Beginnings.”

Renee Radenberg layered fused glass using glass powders, crushed glass and enamels.

She shared that she had accumulated numerous figure sketches before Covid, and decided to incorporate them into her glass practice.

Radenberg notes, “I had to experiment to create flesh color glass powders for these pieces. Discovering high fire enamels also allowed me to ‘paint’ glass which brought me back to my roots of painting/illustration when I first started my art journey.”

We love sharing some of the behind the scenes thoughts from our artists. If you’d like to see more work from Renee and others, be sure to support them by viewing our “New Beginnings” online show March 14th - April 26th.
