After obtaining a New York State 501(c)3 status in 2014, the organization’s mission has always been to safeguard and rehabilitate animals who have experienced the most severe cases of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. This injured little bird is now safely in a carrier, but urgently needs specialized care. 💔 Because it’s Sunday, we are desperately trying to find an avian or wildlife rehabilitator who can help this sweet angel as soon as possible.

She was sitting helplessly in plain sight, unable to fly away. 💔🐦

This morning, one of our volunteers spotted this injured bird on a dog beach in Brooklyn. When approached, she didn’t try to fly or move away, and it quickly became clear that something was wrong with her wing.

At 16 years old, Meeko has one thing left on his bucket list: to finally experience the good life. After years of neglect and not knowing the love and attention every dog deserves, this little guy is finally getting his chance and he’s making the most of it! Don’t let his age fool you; Meeko is still playful, full of personality, and ready to enjoy all the little things he missed out on.

Meeko is currently in a foster home in Brooklyn with a cat and loves soaking up attention, getting cozy, and showing off his impressive sweater collection. And yes, that adorable little tongue is almost always out, because apparently Meeko believes it’s his best accessory. He’s looking for a quiet home with someone who understands senior care and will let him enjoy his golden years at his own pace. NOT EVEN HALF WAS RAISED FOR JACK 💔

Our sweet senior Jack suddenly became very ill after severe vomiting and diarrhea left him too weak to stand. His liver values were alarmingly high, and X-rays revealed a concerning mass-like area in his abdomen. Jack has since had an ultrasound with a specialist, and we are anxiously awaiting the results.

We took on more than we could handle❗️More than our space, resources, and finances could sustain. But when an animal arrives at our door in the condition you see here, turning them away is almost impossible. 💔 We made a promise to our team, to our supporters, and most importantly, to the animals who have nowhere else to go: we will be their hope when they have none left.

That promise has come at a cost. We accumulated significant debt taking on more lives than we could financially carry. 💔 SENIOR JACK SUDDENLY COLLAPSED - RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL! 💔

One moment, our sweet senior Jack was doing well. Then, suddenly, something was terribly wrong.

Jack began vomiting over and over- nine times in total- followed by severe diarrhea. Within a short period of time, he became so weak and lethargic that he could barely stand. We rushed him to the hospital immediately.

His bloodwork showed alarmingly elevated liver values, and the doctors also found on his X-rays a concerning mass-like area in his abdomen that needs to be investigated further with an ultrasound. Because of how sick Jack became, he immediately needed IV fluids, a vitamin injection, medications, and additional supportive care to help stabilize him while the doctors continue trying to determine what is causing this sudden decline.

Octavius didn’t ask to be born into a backyard breeding situation, and he certainly didn’t ask to spend his entire puppyhood without a home. Now, this sweet boy is asking for one thing: a family of his own and he urgently needs a foster while he waits. We only have a few days to find Octavius a foster before he has to return to the shelter, back into a crate where this young, loving boy simply doesn’t belong.

At just 1 year old and 55 lbs, Octavius is the kind of dog who believes being close to his people is his full-time job. He loves kids, dogs, and even shares his foster home with a cat. He’s gentle, affectionate, incredibly goofy, and has the sweetest way of making himself part of whatever you’re doing. Give him a snack and some attention, and you’ll have a very happy Octavius. He’d do best with someone experienced with training and, ideally, a fenced yard where he can safely run and play or someone that is home often to stroll around the neighborhood. He’s already spent his entire puppyhood waiting for a family. Now he urgently needs a foster or better yet, a forever home.
