Angels for Mistreated Animals or AMA Animal Rescue is a Brooklyn based, no-kill animal shelter. After obtaining a New York State 501(c)3 status in 2014, the organization’s mission has always been to safeguard and rehabilitate animals who have experienced the most severe cases of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Since its inception, AMA has saved countless sick, injured, and abused pet companions f

rom near death, domestically and abroad. After an incredible amount of generosity from their supporters throughout the years, AMA has achieved its long term goal of opening its doors to a 1200sq ft space with clean enclosures and a fenced in outdoor space. Through efficient operations, adequate awareness, and public support, AMA continues to create loving futures and erase painful pasts.

“Hi, I’m Gus. Apparently, I’ve become one of the rescue’s longest residents, which seems highly suspicious because I’m objectively adorable.

Since nobody has scooped me up yet, I spent some time in a board-and-train program. I worked hard, learned a ton, and am proud to report that I graduated with honors in being a very good boy. Now I’m ready for my next chapter: a foster home.

I do have one little quirk. Okay, maybe not so little. When I love my person, I REALLY love my person. My ideal home is either one person with no other pets, or two people with no other pets who are equally involved in my care. The rescue says I tend to pick a favorite human and then act like everyone else didn’t get the memo. Personally, I call that loyalty.

DOG ABANDONED ON THE STREET LIKE TRASH 💔💔💔

Lucy was found wandering the streets, shaking with fear, skinny, dirty, and with severely overgrown nails- clear signs that she had not been properly cared for in a long time.

Her general demeanor told an even sadder story. Lucy was so terrified that she would rather thrash and cower away than allow a stranger to touch her. Watching her fear absolutely broke our hearts. We couldn’t say no to this little angel and welcomed her into our care.

Now Lucy needs our help. She deserves medical attention, proper nutrition, comfort, and the chance to learn that not all humans will let her down. NALAH’S EYE COULDN’T BE SAVED 💔

No matter how hard we tried to save Nalah’s eye, unfortunately, it had to be removed. But guess what? That didn’t slow Nalah down one bit.

Not only did she come through surgery like a champion, but she absolutely thrived afterward. While recovering, she found something every homeless animal dreams of- a forever home.

Today, Nalah is no longer homeless. She’s been adopted and is living an amazing life filled with love, comfort, and care. And having only one eye doesn’t seem to bother her at all. She plays, explores, and enjoys life just like any other happy cat.

If Rocky had a fan club, we’d all be members 🤩❤️

At 7 years old, this handsome Rottweiler/Australian Shepherd mix has perfected the art of being the world’s best companion. He’s the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes, loves every person he meets, and is always happiest when he’s right by your side. Rocky also enjoys the company of other dogs and has the sweetest, most easygoing personality. With his adorable little strut and lovable face, it’s impossible not to fall for him.

Rocky is the definition of a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. He has a neurological condition that affects his depth perception, so a home without many stairs would be best, but don’t tell Rocky that he’s supposed to take it easy. With his condition he makes an excellent dance partner, and that’s why we call him tippy tappy. He loves his walks, exploring the neighborhood, hanging out with his people, and being involved in whatever is going on. Think of him as a dog with his own unique GPS system, it may take a slightly different route, but he always gets where he’s going with a wagging tail. Rocky is currently fostered in Brooklyn and would love to meet anyone looking for a loyal, goofy, and incredibly lovable best friend.
