Who’s ready for lunch?! 🍔🍟🥛🍦

You’ve met Popsicle, Gelato and Soft Serve who joined us in July after being discovered on the sidewalk in a carrier. They’re being cared for over goodhome_catmeowtel.

Please meet the newest additions to our menu: Milkshake, Burger and Fries who joined us from ACC last week. You can follow their journey over goodhome_soulcats. Welcome babies and new fosters 🤗

Fosters are a home-based shelter system. If you love animals and want to help, FOSTER! We need you. The animals need you. Check out our Foster Q&A (link in bio)!

We also need donations in order to take care of the animals under our care. Please consider donating (link in bio)!

Four years ago an FIV+ cat named Drake was rescued from a nearby colony and came to Good Home for care and placement. He was an intact male cat with multiple dings all over his body from fighting and was generally worse for the wear.

After he was with us for a while we discovered he was a very sweet and gentle little boy with a shy, slightly goofy side. We placed him in foster care, got him neutered/recovered and eventually he was adopted.

About a month ago Animal Care Centers of NYCey had him. He’d been surrendered to them in pretty rough shape, skin covered in scabs from flea dermatitis. When we picked him up from the shelter and touched his little head through the carrier, we could feel the scabs on his inflamed skin and it brought us to tears. Thank goodness for microchips and thank goodness for ACC.

Despite doing a lot of work up front to ensure good placement, we’ve learned that cats will sometimes come back to us after adoption. The cats are always welcomed back, rather than risk their remaining where they’re unwanted, neglect, or worse. We also understand that people’s lives can change dramatically and approach occasions when a cat comes back to us with professionalism and empathy.

We’ve also learned that, once in a great while, the adoption placement will turn out to be, well, “bad”. That’s not a term we throw around lightly. But in this case the adopter at least did 100% the right thing by taking Drake to the shelter.

None of this assuages the sadness, frustration, and guilt we struggle with that Drake’s placement resulted in harm to his health. Needless to say we have a lot of complicated feelings about his condition. We have been asking ourselves what we could have done differently and, moving forward, how to ensure the safety of the cats under our care.

Ultimately what matters most is that Drake is safe and in loving hands 🐉body is on the way to recovery and, as you can see, his adorable, playful demeanor remains intact. We love you Drake and are extremely happy and relieved to have a second chance to care for you.

Happy 1st Birthday Cheddar! 🎉

Goofy, affectionate, and oh-so-playful, this handsome orange boy is recovering from a bout of stomatitis. Foster pawrents Adopt Cheddar! say you’d never know he had this painful mouth condition! Cheddar is bright, energetic, just a wee bit naughty, and READY TO PARTY on his special day 🥳

Cheddar came to us a little over 2 months ago from the streets of Queens where he was rescued by Afroza Azad aka Bilaibashi. We noticed he was drooling and off to the vet he went where he received an exam, blood work, and two different medications to combat his condition. Cheddar’s care to date totals $425. Please send Cheddar a bday gift to help concerned cost of his care. Your donations and support mean the world to our cats!

Once he’s completed his treatment and been medically cleared, Cheddar will be available for adoption. Until then, you can get to know this charmer at his foster IG.

We love you Cheddar! We’re so happy you’re with us 🧡

ADOPT TRUFFLES 🩶 If you’re looking for a gorgeous, young adult, single kitty I might just be your match!

Hello! My name is Truffles and I’m sweet like the chocolates. About a year ago I was living in a Brooklyn backyard, being cared for by the homeowners. They reached out to Good Home to get me spayed and then they brought me inside because they loved me so much. Sadly, one of family members developed allergies, so they contacted Good Home to help get me adopted.

Fortunately, Good Home was there for me and for the past few months I’ve been living with one of their loving fosters who gives me lots of attention, but also respects my independent streak!

Brooklyn born & raised, I’m a playful “people cat” who loves routine, my own space, and chatting my human after they’ve been away. I look forward to morning & nighttime cuddles with my human, but during the day I’m busy with my own activities like exploring, napping on a cozy windowsill, and batting around anything that moves. I love to play!

I’d be happiest in a moderately active home with people who respect my space but also welcome my affection. My foster human isn’t sure how I’d do with dogs, but they think I’d be ok with gentle children who understand kitty boundaries. When it comes to other cats, I’d probably be happiest as the only cat in the household. I’m a smart, independent girl who would make a steadfast & loving companion. 💕

It was May 25th when these kittens were rescued from a derelict building here in Crown Heights (see the last pic for the deplorable conditions they lived in). They’ve come a long way in a couple of months!

Yesterday this brother and sister duo were spayed-neutered ASPCA and entered foster care Yasmin & Danyel for recovery. After that, you will be able to meet these adoptable cuties in our free roaming !

The cost of their services at the ASPCA yesterday was $90. Please help us cover their fees! All donations help us care for the animals and continue our rescue work.

This sweet cat was apparently abandoned in the stairwell of a large apartment complex in Crown Heights several weeks ago. We think Kitty is a “she” and is currently being cared for in the basement by a kind neighbor. It is not safe for her there though, and is at real risk of being kicked out by building management.

Once she’s inside and with the help of our wonderful veterinary partners we will get her health needs taken care of. She’s been flea treated already! Please help us help this sweet creature who is in need of shelter.

Many thanks to everyone who reached out to foster these three little babes who were left in a carrier on Nostrand Ave on Monday. They landed safely with neighbors goodhome_catmeowtel where they are eating slurry and starting to play!

We don’t know the circumstances behind their being left there on the street but, with the help of the rescuer, we left a sign where they were found, offering to help get mama spayed for free. Hopefully someone see it and replies.
