Love, Heritage & Memories: Dondon Brings Us Together
Living far from Haiti, gatherings like this boat party bring us together and preconnect us through Dondon, through family, memories, music, food and a shared heritage.
A heartfelt thank you to sisters Danna and Dominique, whose connection to Dondon comes through their mother. Three years ago, they envisioned this fundraiser, and their continued commitment, contribution and ability to bring friends and supporters together have helped make it a beautiful tradition.
A special recognition goes to Michèle, who brought together an amazing group of friends this year and continues to support ODID in many other ways. Her mother would drive Michèle and her siblings to Dondon while visiting her cousin, giving them the opportunity to spend part of their summer vacations there and create memories that remain with them today.
Haiti has so much to discover. Dondon connects us to the Citadelle Henry, Voûte à Minguet, our caves, our history, culture and heritage.
It takes many bits and pieces to make a whole. Every contribution, every visitor, every volunteer and every person who spreads the word matters.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this fundraiser a success. Your support helped make possible the 11th Festival des Grottes de Dondon and ODID’s year round work, including the École de Musique de Dondon, youth programs, women’s economic empowerment, health initiatives, support for women and girls, agriculture, ecotourism and community development.
Now, on to the 12th edition! Support us as we continue this tradition, celebrate Dondon and Haiti’s heritage, and contribute to the development of the community.
