Exciting news! Applications for our R&D Grant will open December 3!

Now in its fourth year, this grant supports filmmakers who are in the research or development phase of their feature documentary.

Supported filmmakers will receive:
✦ $10,000 USD grants for Research
✦ $20,000 USD grants for Development

Chicken & Egg Films is turning 20—and we’re marking this milestone not with a stuffy dinner, but with an expansive, welcoming night designed for our whole nest. Catch Program Director Kiyoko McCrae and Senior Program Manager Elaisha Stokes .docs this year!

Kiyoko will participate as a Jury member for the eight Docs-in-Progress showcases from around the world, which include two of our supported filmmakers' projects: ’s The Production of the World and ’s Two Mountains Weighing Down My Chest.

Plus, we'll present the inaugural Chicken & Egg Vision Award 🏆 to a woman or gender-expansive filmmaker whose film offers a creative vision and the potential to create change. The Award includes a $5,000 cash prize, one year of mentorship, and AlumNest membership.

We are proud to announce that Olha Zhurba’s () C&E supported film Slow Burning Earth (.film) won the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival International Competition Jury Award for Best Film. Elizabeth Lo () also won at the for her film Mistress Dispeller () in the International Competition Jury Award for Best Director. Congratulations to these two filmmakers for their big wins!

We are proud to announce our 2025 Chicken & Egg Award Filmmakers (via )!

Each cohort member will receive a $75,000 grant: a $50,000 unrestricted career grant and $25,000 to be applied to a project the filmmaker will work on during their breakthrough award year.
