Northeast Region, National Black Law Students Association Welcome to the official page of the Northeast Region of the National Black Law Students Association (NEBLSA).

NEBLSA is comprised of Chapters from: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey (northern), New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. NEBLSA is the region that founded the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) in 1968 that expanded and became a National Organization. In 1968, Algernon Johnson (“AJ”) Cooper, former mayor of Prichard, Alabama, founded the first Black American

Law Students Association (BALSA) at the New York University Law School. In 1983, BALSA revised its name and the word “American” was deleted to encompass all blacks, including those not of American nationality. Later, the word “National” was added to reflect the organization’s national expansion, which now includes representation in the law schools of forty-eight states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

⏰ 30 HOURS. 29 LEADERS. ONE COLLECTIVE GOAL.

Let’s make an impact together!

The NEBLSA 30 Hours of Giving Challenge is a collective effort to strengthen our region, support our members, and invest in the continued growth of NEBLSA.

🎯 Our Goal: $20,300

Each NEBLSA Board member is taking on the challenge to raise $700—because together, we can turn individual efforts into regional impact.

But this campaign is about more than reaching a number. It’s about investing in our members, expanding opportunities, strengthening our programming, and providing tangible resources to support our region.
Every donation brings us one step closer to our goal—and every dollar is an investment in the future of NEBLSA.

💪🏾 Will you help us reach the goal?
