Fantastic news! One of our sweeter Cupcakes has won a congeniality award for the Planet Connections Festivity. This news is made, all the more delicious, when paired with "Michael Is Black" winning for "Outstanding Solo Show" at the same festival (food puns quota reached)!
"Michael is Black" is not only a good show, it's also an important one. There are people who are victimized by their race, by their finances, by their love, by their faith, by their knowledge, by their disabilities, by their gender, by their appearance, or for no reason at all. This show, through wit, heart, friendship, humor, and with painfully honest pieces of the author's ( Michael Hagins) past, says that you, ALL of you, are not alone. There is value in persevering, even in absence to a clear answer to your pain, and you don't have to do it by yourself. Life is hard, full stop; however, you are not alone.
We are very proud to have been trusted with this magnificent show, and look forward to it's bright, and needed future.
Thank you to Michael, and Michael for the massive emotional undertaking this asked of both of you.
Thank you to Laura Mae Baker for the guidance and direction that brought it to life. You continue to impress with your unique, yet universal insight.
Thank you to Melissa Farinelli for recreating a classroom, a cow pasture, and The Hudson River, with only lights and sound, and your wealth of ability.
And thank you to the men, woman, and others who joined us on this journey.
