Dear Members of CWA Local 1109 who accepted the contractual EIPP retirement offer,

On behalf of CWA Local 1109, I want to thank each of you for your years of service, your dedication to this Union, and your commitment to your fellow 1109 members. Through years of hard work and personal sacrifice, you have helped pave the way for others to follow in your footsteps. Your efforts have made a lasting impact.

Know that you are appreciated and loved by many who shared this journey with you. As President of Local 1109, along with our entire Local 1109 staff, our Chief Stewards, and the Steward Body, we wish you all the best as you begin this next chapter in life. May God continue to watch over you in your retirement.

Please remember that you will always be a part of CWA Local 1109 — respected, valued, and appreciated by all.

Brothers and Sisters of CWA Local 1109,

On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, I write to you with a heavy heart and a clear purpose: to remember, to educate, and to honor. Today, more than 100 million Americans are too young to remember that clear September morning. It is our obligation — as a nation, as a union, and as individuals — to never forget and to ensure those born after 9/11 understand its significance and enduring legacy.

We remember and honor the unimaginable loss we experienced: the innocent men and women who went to work that morning; the passengers and crews on the flights that never reached their destinations; the men and women at the Pentagon who suffered the same senseless violence; the first responders who ran toward danger and made the ultimate sacrifice; and the countless recovery and rebuilding workers who later suffered illnesses as a result of their service. We also recognize the continuing impact of that day, as names are still added to the roll of the fallen due to 9/11-related illnesses. Above all, we hold in our thoughts the families — spouses, parents, children, siblings, and friends — whose lives were forever altered.

We honor the stories of bravery, compassion, and unity that emerged from that day and have shaped our community and our nation ever since. May God bless the victims and their families with comfort and peace. May God watch over and bless the first responders, the recovery workers, and all who continue to bear the consequences of that day. May God bless our country with healing, unity, and the resolve to remember.

Dear Sisters and Brothers of CWA Local 1109,

This Labor Day weekend we honor you — the men and women of labor, the people who make this country the most powerful economic force the world has ever known. You build the bridges, transport the goods, deliver the packages, educate our youth, care for the sick, and help keep the world communicating at the speed of light. Everything that is accomplished starts with labor — for that you are honored and appreciated.

Let us never forget the struggles and sacrifices that brought us these hard-won gains. Teach your children about the people who fought for what so many take for granted: weekend and holiday pay, decent hourly wages, benefits, safety regulations and protections, and the right to organize and have a voice in the workplace. These gains did not come without a fight.

CWA Local 1109 will continue to fight for our rights on and off the job. We will organize the unorganized so every worker has a voice. We will stand shoulder to shoulder with workers no matter the field or the job — workers united can never be defeated.

Today, unions and workers face renewed scrutiny and pressure. Tech giants and corporations too often put stock price and quarterly earnings above the safety and quality of life of working people. As those attacks intensify, I ask our rank and file to reflect on who we are as a union and as workers: where we were, where we are now, and what we must do together to push back. No matter your industry — union or nonunion, blue collar or white collar — the people of labor must stand as one. When we are united, we are strong.

Remember: nothing was ever given to us. Everything we have was fought for. No boss or company is doing us any favors — without our labor there are no companies, no quarterly earnings, and no stocks to trade. Never let anyone make you believe otherwise.

Now is the time to turn back the clock on attacks against working people: reorganize the organized, educate our youth, and rebuild a nation that respects a hard day’s work and the values of the labor movement. Our time is now.

God bless you all, and thank you for all you do. Enjoy your well-deserved day of honor.
