May is reading month, so we wanted to explore a couple stats on literacy and education on our island. 🧐📚

From our governments’ insufficient investments in education to the deliberate destruction of public infrastructure and social services across the island, one thing is clear: our island deserves better when it comes to literacy and education. 🙏🏾

One way we want to support reading month, is through our Dominican and Haitian authors’ panel this Saturday May 16th!

In Cultured’s work is based on the belief that education is the key to liberation. We hope to uplift the stories of our own community’s authors and create a space for curious readers and budding writers. ✍🏽 🌹

We are so excited to introduce ICC’s first-ever Narratives Throughout the Diaspora: Authors Panel!

On May 16th, join us as we explore how authors across the Dominican & Haitian Diaspora challenge the themes and stereotypes that have long defined our communities and reclaim our stories on our own terms. 🇩🇴🇭🇹

We’re bringing together 3 incredible authors spanning diverse experiences and literary genres to celebrate the richness of our cultures, bridge historical divides, and spark real dialogue about what it means to be Dominican and Haitian across the diaspora.

💬 It will be an afternoon full of heritage, identity, culture and storytelling. This conversation is one you don’t want to miss.
