Being a first-generation college student means learning how to walk into rooms that weren’t always built with your story in mind… and still showing up anyway.

I had the privilege of joining a panel at Fordham University for First-Gen Forward: Bright Futures Ahead to share a little about that journey and connect with students navigating their own paths.

These conversations matter. The questions, the honesty, the moments of recognition when someone realizes they’re not alone in figuring it all out.

Grateful to the team at for creating space to celebrate and empower first-generation students. The future is bright, and these students are proof of it. ✨

The Room Mattered.

On March 8th, we gathered at Brooklyn Law School for an afternoon of conversation, perspective, and strategy around elite college admissions and the energy in the room was undeniable!

We’re grateful to , who volunteered her time to guide the conversation, along with remarkable National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) gentlemen who also volunteered and modeled leadership and possibility, helping students and parents gain powerful insight into what selective institutions truly look for.

We’re grateful for every family who showed up ready to engage, ask questions, and think boldly about what’s possible.

And thank you to our partners at for helping make this gathering possible.

More conversations like this are ahead.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses.

We just wrapped a session on financial statements with our instructor Hector and let’s be honest… it was a lot. 😅

Nobody signs up for entrepreneurship because they love balance sheets and cash flow analysis. But we sign up because we’re serious about building businesses that last. That part requires discipline. It requires understanding the numbers. Even when we’d rather not.

What I didn’t expect was how quickly this group of entrepreneurs would become something more than classmates.

There’s something powerful about being in a room with people who are building, stretching, risking, and learning in real time. This cohort is sharp. Focused. Generous. And the relationships forming here matter just as much as the curriculum.

Grateful to be building alongside them. 💼📊✨

Our young kings are excellence that many elite colleges are not prepared for.

On March 8th, TheBoysRoom will partner with Lindsay Gay Jean-Paul, MPH of Mocha Moms Brooklyn Chapter for an intentional conversation about preparing our sons for elite college admissions. We’ll explore what selective institutions are truly evaluating, how strong student narratives take shape over time, and how families can approach this process with clarity and direction.

This is about positioning with purpose.

Black History Month felt like what it’s supposed to feel like, intentional.

Partnering with MochaMomsBrooklyn allowed us to create a space where our community was centered in real time, surrounded and supported by families who understand why this work matters. The energy in the room reflected alignment, and the collaboration moved with purpose from start to finish.

Thank you to everyone who came through and trusted us to hold that space. 🖤📚

This week in The Boys’ Room, our Charlotte Latin cohort is closing out their final session with a powerful conversation on leadership.

We’re honored to welcome Mathu Gibson, former Denver Broncos offensive lineman, who will be sharing what it means to build a personal vision and lead with intention.

These are the conversations that help young people see beyond where they are and step into who they’re becoming.
