Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp Sprout Brooklyn, a Young Judaea Day Camp. Sprout Brooklyn provides campers with a deeper connection to Israel, to the Jewish community and to themselves.

Sprout Brooklyn, a Young Judaea Day Camp, is a place where children from a wide spectrum of Jewish backgrounds join together to create an ideal Jewish community based on values, friendship, tikun olam (repairing the world), and a sense of peoplehood. Sprout Brooklyn is a summer day camping experience of Camp Young Judaea Sprout Lake open to campers entering Pre-K through 5th grade.

Chuggim are back! 🎉

This summer, we brought something special back to the schedule for our oldest campers: chuggim (electives)!

Each week, campers got to choose an activity based on something they already loved, or something they were curious to try. And the options were pretty great: cheerleading, ballet, improv, lanyard, chess, LEGO, board games, basketball, pickleball, karaoke… and plenty more!

We loved giving our campers a little more say in how they spent their camp days, while watching our incredible counselors turn their own interests into fun, engaging activities. (And yes, a few members of the leadership team even jumped in to lead chuggim, too!)

The best part? Everyone had a blast. And we ended our final day of chuggim exactly as we should: with a karaoke party. 🎤🕺

A little choice, a lot of fun, and lots of new things to try. 💙

This week we had special visitors from Sprout Lake’s Hachshara (intern) program!

Our buddies spent the day with us at the pool, martial arts, and more before getting to run their own programming with our Sprout Brooklyn campers!

A milestone worth celebrating. 🏊

For the first time since before the pandemic, our campers were able to spend the day swimming together, and it felt so good to be back.

So much gratitude to NYC Parks, the wonderful Red Hook Pool staff, our lifeguards, unit heads, and our counselors for making it all happen.

Our community is pretty amazing. 💙🏊

Session 4 is officially underway, and we couldn’t be more excited! 💙🌱

We kicked off the week by meeting new friends and counselors, getting creative in cooking with a fennel & kiwi salad, and practicing our balance skills with a limbo challenge in dance.

The smiles, laughter, and excitement have us looking forward to an amazing final session together. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!

At Marine Park in Brooklyn, our Panterim and Arayot campers took part in a hands-on outdoor adventure!

Our trip included:
    •    🛶 Canoeing with NYC Parks dept staff
    •    🦀 Seining, where campers used a large net to safely discover and observe fish, crabs, and other aquatic life before releasing them back into the water.

We loved learning and having this incredible experience together! Thanks to NYC Parks for having us!

At Sprout Brooklyn, every Yom Miyuchad (Special Wednesday) brings our weekly theme to life.

🌊 Our first Yom Miyuchad of the summer was a splash! Beach Day brought this week’s nature theme to life with paper boat races, ocean-inspired watercolor art, beach volleyball, exploring Israel’s aquatic habitats, and a camp-wide beach dance.

What a joyful way to celebrate an incredible first week at Sprout Brooklyn! ☀️💙

It’s been a great start to Kayitz 2026 here at Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp!

So far we’ve gotten to:
- Go swimming
- Make Israeli salads
- Create colorful fish in Omanut (art)
- identify our feelings in Hebrew
- Play Simon-Says in Music
- Create leaf tracings in Nature
- find the Kinneret on a map in Tarbut
- Create a brand new dance!

We’ve already made great memories and can’t wait to make more!
