We have some news! Since 2010, EWEC has worked to advance the health and well-being of women, children and adolescents everywhere. Now—in our second decade—EWEC is shifting its focus to country-level action. This means we can integrate more tightly with the broader Sustainable Development Goals to fast-track country-level implementation within the Decade of Action.
Over the past decade, EWEC has worked with governments, the private sector, foundations, NGOs and civil society to secure 776 commitments, including financial commitments worth a cumulative total of nearly US$186 billion. During that time, the world also achieved significant gains in maternal, newborn and child health and well-being, including more than 1 billion children vaccinated, under-5 deaths reaching a recorded all-time low, and more. To donors, partners, and the greater global health community: Thank you for a decade of placing women, children and adolescents at the heart of sustainable development. We can’t wait to see what this next decade will bring.
