🎉 ¡Empoderando a las mujeres, transformando comunidades y construyendo un futuro sostenible! 🌾🏠📚

¡Estamos encantados de celebrar un gran hito en el desarrollo liderado por la comunidad! Este julio, 150 increíbles mujeres emprendedoras rurales se graduaron del programa de microcréditos de la Iniciativa de Empoderamiento de la Mujer de B.R.A.

Además de recibir micro préstamos para impulsar sus negocios, estas inspiradoras mujeres completaron una capacitación integral de un año en producción agrícola, marketing y ventas, promoción de la salud comunitaria y liderazgo cívico, ¡incluyendo la producción de toallas sanitarias reutilizables!

Al combinar herramientas financieras, vivienda, educación en salud y agricultura sostenible, Global Alivio (Batey Relief Alliance) impulsa activamente el progreso a través de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de la Agenda 2030 de la ONU:

🌱 Fin de la pobreza y Hambre cero (ODS 1 y 2): Los microcréditos y la capacitación agrícola práctica rompen los ciclos intergeneracionales de pobreza, aumentan el rendimiento de los cultivos y garantizan el suministro local de alimentos.

🩺 Salud, higiene y educación de calidad (ODS 3 y 4): Capacitar a las participantes como promotoras de salud comunitaria brinda atención de bienestar vital a los hogares rurales, mientras que la fabricación de toallas reutilizables combate la pobreza menstrual, asegurando que las niñas permanezcan en la escuela sin interrupciones.

💼 Igualdad de género y trabajo decente (ODS 5 y 8): Elevar a las mujeres a propietarias de negocios, productoras y tomadoras de decisiones en la comunidad crea empleo decente e impulsa un crecimiento económico inclusivo desde adentro.

🏠 Comunidades sostenibles y producción responsable (ODS 11 y 12): La producción de toallas lavables y sin residuos reduce la contaminación por plástico, mientras que 15 mujeres recibieron su primera vivienda a través del programa, creando condiciones de vida seguras, dignas y resilientes para sus familias.

🤝 Alianzas y propiedad comunitaria (ODS 12 y 17): Con el apoyo de Cross Catholic Outreach, esta iniciativa holística ha impactado a 150 mujeres en El Laurel, Monte Plata, República Dominicana desde 2023.

Lo mejor de todo es que los préstamos reembolsados se reinvierten directamente en la comunidad, asegurando que el programa sea autosostenible y pertenezca verdaderamente a la comunidad durante los próximos años.

🇩🇴🌾💧✨Today, we celebrate a historic milestone: the Dominican Republic has officially achieved the target for Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2): Zero Hunger, reducing undernourishment from 21% down to below 2.5% and exiting the global hunger map, according to the United Nations’ SOFI 2026 report.

At Batey Relief Alliance (Global Alivio), we are immensely proud to have contributed to this monumental national progress through our holistic, community-led, and sustainable models across rural areas and bateyes:
🥦 Food Security: Distributed 2,600 metric tons of nutritious food products (in partnership with USAID)
🌱 Agricultural Empowerment & Income: Engaged over 9,000 rural farmers and women in sustainable agricultural production and income-generating programs (in partnership with U.S. Department of Agriculture)
💊 Nutritional Health: Distributed millions of doses of multivitamins and deworming medications, ensuring healthy development for children and pregnant women (in partnership with Vitamin Angels)
💧 Clean Water & Sanitation: Delivered over 347 million liters of clean water to prevent waterborne diseases and safeguard vulnerable families (in partnership with P&G)

🌍 From Community Action to Global Policy: Batey Relief Alliance achieves key milestone at the United Nations

We are proud to announce that Batey Relief Alliance’s official written statement (E/C.2/2026/CRP.23) has been formally published by the United Nations for the 2026 ECOSOC High-level Segment and High-level Political Forum (HLPF).

Circulated to Member States under ECOSOC Resolution 1996/31, our submission addresses this year’s ministerial mandate: “Delivering better: accelerating urgent and transformative action to achieve the SDGs by 2030.”

Holding Special Consultative Status with UN ECOSOC since 2014, Batey Relief Alliance draws on 28 years of longitudinal data across the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Peru. Our core message to world leaders is clear: true sustainability requires a deliberate paradigm shift from direct service delivery to systemic national integration.

✨ Strategic Pillars of Our UN Submission:
🏥 Systemic Health Handovers (SDGs 3, 6, 17): Scaling NGO-led rural health infrastructure into national public health portfolios—a model that has advanced outcomes for 4.5M+ lives.
🌾 Economic & Food Security (SDGs 1, 2, 8): Partnering globally to transition 9,000+ rural women and farmers from clinic patients to self-sufficient market entrepreneurs.
🩸 Data-Driven Gender Parity (SDGs 4, 5): Eradicating menstrual inequity—which causes 20% of rural schoolgirls to miss classes—through community manufacturing and national legislative advocacy.

📋 Our Direct Recommendations to Member States:

A Message from Global Alivio on the U.S. Semiquincentennial

As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, we must view its legacy not through the lens of nostalgia, but through the reality of its utility. Moving forward, the nation’s true value lies in its enduring capacity to serve as a powerful space for reinvention.

For two and a half centuries, millions have risked everything on this ideal, weathering perilous paths to seek opportunity. Today, that concept is being heavily tested. For some, the traditional dream has vanished; for others, the pursuit remains vital.

The reality of the modern era is that the American Dream is no longer a static promise of guaranteed prosperity. Instead, it is a complex framework of infrastructure, capital, and stability—a reliable platform designed for building, learning, and rebuilding.

Ultimately, opportunity is no longer bound by geography, but by individual determination. We recognize that the power to create a better future lies within the individual, no matter where they stand—provided there is fairness and equal access, irrespective of one’s race, nationality, gender, or religion. The U.S. remains a premier platform to facilitate that drive, but the grit belongs entirely to the builder.

Hoy recordamos a un pilar de nuestra historia: el exsenador de Monte Plata, República Dominicana, Charlie Mariotti. Desde el primer día, ha sido un amigo incondicional y un motor fundamental para Batey Relief Alliance (operando ahora como Global Alivio), posicionándonos como una ONG viable y confiable ante la opinión pública. Su liderazgo visionario coordinó una alianza estratégica con el Consejo Estatal del Azúcar (CEA) para poner en marcha un proyecto agropecuario pionero de 1.2 millones de dólares en Monte Plata, financiado por el Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos, y su dedicación garantizó la transición fluida de nuestro centro médico en la comunidad Cinco Casas al Ministerio de Salud Regional Metropolitano, asegurando la continuidad de la atención médica integral para las poblaciones más vulnerables. To the People of Venezuela,

We are watching with profound sorrow and deep alarm as the catastrophic scale of yesterday evening’s “doublet" earthquake sequence unfolds across Northern Venezuela. The unprecedented impact of the 7.2-magnitude foreshock near San Felipe, followed just 39 seconds later by the massive 7.5-magnitude earthquake near Yumare, represents an unimaginable trial for your nation. To endure the most powerful seismic event to strike Venezuela since 1900 is a tragedy of historic proportions.

On behalf of Global Alivio, I offer our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences to the families mourning the victims, to those who have been injured, and to everyone still waiting in agonizing suspense for news of loved ones trapped beneath the debris.

“True relief is not a temporary handout, but the restoration of human dignity in the wake of total devastation.”

For nearly three decades, our organization has stood on the frontlines of crisis, delivering life-saving health, nutrition, and clean water infrastructure to over 4.5 million individuals across the Americas and the Caribbean. Big moves and major milestones in Monte Plata! 🚀✨

Global Alivio just wrapped up its very first annual fair since becoming the official operational brand of Batey Relief Alliance earlier this year! We teamed up with the vibrant Patronal festival in Don Juan to shine a spotlight on some truly unstoppable women.

Through our women’s empowerment initiative—made possible by the incredible support of Cross Catholic Outreach—more than 150 women are changing the game.

Together, we are celebrating a major milestone: 25 of these incredible women have officially received their very first homes! 🏡🎉

Beyond housing stability, this program empowers them with:
💼 Micro-loans & business training to spark local economies
🗳️ Leadership tools to influence local government
🩸 Menstrual equity through the production of reusable sanitary pads

These women are leading, building, and inspiring. We’re cultivating self-reliance together.
