Educated Voices of Hip Hop
Press Statement
December 22, 2014
We, the officers and members of the Educated Voices of Hip Hop extend our condolences to the families of NYPD Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos. In addition, we do extend condolences to all victims of recent gun violence. We do not condone the actions of any individuals or group, in which an action results in the loss of life.
Due to recent events in Ferguson, MO, Cleveland, OH, and New York City, our organization does acknowledge the need to increase communication among our citizens and our law enforcement departments. We acknowledge the issues and concerns of the people. In addition, we also acknowledge and recognize the duties and responsibilities of those who are in political office and law enforcement.
Our organization supports the concept of encouraging Peace, Love, and Unity among any diverse group of people, whether multicultural, or multigenerational. We believe in leadership that supports unity among all individuals, regardless of race, color, religion, or gender. We encourage all parties to take the time, especially during this holiday season, to reflect, rethink, repair, and resolve. We hope these recent events will open the door of communication, between all individuals, groups, and organizations that believe in peace, love, unity, and justice for all.
We encourage communication among all, and will not condone any violent act that may disrupt this building process. We hope you find comfort in knowing that there are community leaders, activists, ordinary citizens, young and old, that believe that this is attainable. Be encouraged, and be well.
Peace and Blessings!
