Dear community,

Election time is upon us, and we encourace you to vote. We would like to share a message from The New York Landmarks Conservancy about ballot proposals that will shift the power away from communities and the City Council to the Mayor in land use and rezoning decisions.

From the New York Landmarks Conservancy:

Preserve the Public’s Voice: Vote NO on Ballot Proposals 2, 3, and 4

Make sure your voice is heard!

They will take away your City Council Member’s vote and shift the balance of power to the Mayor.

It is the Council that often requires more affordable units in a proposal at prices more New Yorkers can afford.

Proposals 2, 3, and 4 give the Mayor the final decision.

Hold onto your say in how your area changes. Your Council Member is most attuned to a community’s needs and concerns.

The Ballot Proposals may sound appealing, but they will stifle your voice. They will eliminate the City Council’s ability to shape or improve rezonings.

Vote NO on Ballot Proposals 2, 3, and 4!

Tuesday, October 22, 6-9pm at The Lonesome Club on Prospect Ave at 10th Ave. Join us for a special community fundraiser to support Housing Not Highrises efforts to fight Arrow Linen’s outrageous stop up-zoning. Complimentary appetizers, cash bar and great neighbors will gather for updates from the team and plans for the path forward. Come join us. Any contribution amount is helpful! -slope
