The Spook Who Sat by the Door, directed by Ivan Dixon in 1973, was so revolutionary that it was pulled from theaters three days before it opened.

I did a deep dive into this film back in 2011 or 2012 while hosting Black Classic Film Series and believe it is a very important part of film history and black storytelling that should not be missed.

I’ve got my ticket for the world premiere of the 4k restoration this Friday, 8/16 at BAM and would love to see this with my fellow cinephiles.
