Centered in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn, the farms create a unique opportunity to experience active models of responsible food productions. Additiona

lly, we build and help maintain vegetable gardens for local public schools, host school field trips and local service groups, hold free beginner’s English classes, and coordinate with local businesses to distribute bread and fresh produce donations. All materials used are recovered from the garbage or paid for by individual donations. We collaborate with property owners for the free availability of their space and in turn everything that the farms provide is also free. Our motto is give-as-you-can, take-only-as-you-need.

Bushwick City Farm is proud to speak at the upcoming screening of Ferngully: The Last Rainforest, a classic movie about the dangers of corporate greed, the importance of fighting for our planet, and the courage of land and earth protectors.

The screening is Wed, 5/6 @ 7:30pm at Ridgewood Commons.

After, there will be a Q&A with an organizer from the campaign to save Bushwick City Farm, an urban farm off the Myrtle/Broadway train stop, which just passed its 15th anniversary but is now under threat of destruction if the titleholder of the land refuses to sell it to the city. Instead, it could be turned into even more unaffordable estates and further gentrify our community.

Brooklyn deserves better. With help from our neighbors and elected officials, we hope to get the city to buy the lot and turn it into a GreenThumb space—so this beloved oasis can stay that way for the children of Bushwick and Bed Stuy for generations to come.

Join us, get involved, & learn more about guerilla gardening and agriculture as resistance.

came to the farm’s quinceañera this weekend, a celebration of 15 years of community service, food justice, and open green space at the farm.

But this year, because our community is locked out of the garden, the birthday party happened on the sidewalk.

We have elected officials on our side. Sitting lawmakers agree: Bushwick City Farm must be saved. We are grateful for the support of , , , .in.Office and others.

Now, our elected officials are in talks with the title holder to secure the land as a GreenThumb space in perpetuity. Continue to make noise, show your support, and spread awareness about the campaign for .

“Where else are the kids going to be able to come and hang out?”

Longtime community members recently spoke to about our beloved urban garden, the only green space in a half mile radius. It was a safe space for our neighborhood children to learn, play, and grow. But now, we’ve been suddenly locked out of the space we’ve nurtured for 15 years.

We want to express our heartfelt appreciation for , , , and .in.Office for their statements of support for the farm.

Let’s get one from next. Keep up the write-in campaign—we need to keep up the pressure to ❤️🌱

For more than 10 years, the volunteer‑run farm has grown produce, cared for animals and offered a rare patch of open green space in a dense part of Brooklyn.

The campaign is WORKING!!! Borough President Reynoso, councilmember Chi Ossé, and Senator Brisport have all spoken out in our defense, as well as Eon Huntley who is currently running for a seat in the brooklyn state assembly.

But we need more than words. We need to see ACTION.

Please continue contacting the mayors office to support our electeds in their efforts to aquire and transfer the property to Parks Department-Green Thumb. Let's keep contacting the mayor's office daily until they join the chorus of support for Bushwick City Farm!

“Hello, my name is [your first and last name] and I am a resident of [Bed Stuy/Bushwick/Brooklyn/NYC]. I am a supporter of the community garden project Bushwick City Farm, which is located at Lewis Ave and Stockton St, in district 36. I am asking for [Person's] help in saving the farm, which is at risk of being shut down. The farm provides free healthy food to its neighbors and serves as a community hub and the loss of the space would be devastating. I'm calling on the city to remove the vacate order, work with the farm to resolve the fines on the property, and convert the lot into an official GreenThumb space.

Thank you,
