Named after my Uncle Donald, a Brooklyn native, an art dealer and father of contributors to the culture. He is one of my heros.

He suggested I do this with the children, so I named it after him. He always encouraged us to follow our passions and to appreciate and engage the arts.

His children, Kadeem Hardison, John D. McFadden, Jr., Michael McFadden and Nydia McFadden are examples of his DNA. All going on to create lasting work in the industry.

I am proud to introduce to you this contest and award in honor of all unsung heros and creative geniuses.

Meet John Donald McFadden, Sr. (in his hey day) My handsome and brilliant Uncle. He is a fine arts dealer from Brooklyn and One of my Heros.

He is also the creator of our Youth Filmmaker's Contest and the actual father of a few extraordinary, talented beings, that has made strong contributions to the film and entertainment industry. (You'll meet them later.)

He has wonderful stories about his involvement and entanglements within the industry, in the earlier days.

Hoping he bless us with some untold tales about your favorite celebrities at the Festival. He's full of them.

I just wanted to shout my guy out, today and thank him for instilling the love and appreciation of the arts in all of us kids growing up.
