I am happy to report that as of Wednesday July 5, the Aquehonga Scoutcraft Project is substantially complete. Special Thanks to Rich Benini, Brian Richard and all the volunteers and alumni that worked so hard, the rangers who time and time again supported this and to the many people who donated and donated to fund this project. We accomplished the following:
built 11 interactive kiosks
installed two rope making machines
created a chopping area
built a compass learning circle oriented to magnetic north
created a permanent 26 station compass and geocache course throughout the camp
built a model campsite
set up 8 tents
installed 18 colonial flags and their meaning
built the "Bridges to Advancement" area with connected platforms to focus on advancement from Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class
installed 30 patrol flags
installed 300+ patrol emblems
created and outfitted a cooking arena for demonstrations, advancement nd inter patrol and inter troop cooking competitions
created a contour lines and compass kiosk
installed a fire building Dunk the Counselor station
Installed a fire fighting gallery and bucket brigade station
installed a measurement station for the pencil, tree felling ad Napoleon methods of measuring
install a menu plan kiosk with recipes for year round and summer camping
installed a knot tying for time board
installed a scale to measure backpack weight
created game for instruction including "Map Symbol Concentration", "Menu Planning Price is Right", Duty Roster battleship" and more
doubled the size of the program area
and more
