More than a historical milestone, Juneteenth honors generations of Black people who fought, resisted, survived, and dreamed of freedom despite the violence of enslavement.

At BAJI, we honor Juneteenth as a uniquely Black American legacy while recognizing its enduring lessons for Black people everywhere.

Honoring this history means rejecting division within the African Diaspora and recognizing our shared struggle for dignity, safety, and self-determination. We are strongest when we stand together; in solidarity, in community, and in the continuing pursuit for freedom.

—Happy Juneteenth!

✊🏿 What happens to our communities when ICE destroys the trust we have worked hard to build with our neighbors and local institutions?

Communities should not have to live under the constant threat of surveillance, harassment, detention, and deportation. ICE does not make us safer — they create fear, break relationships, and prevent communities from thriving.

Hear reflections from community members on why we need ICE out of our communities.

When Black communities lose political power, the consequences are not limited to election outcomes. Reduced representation affects public policy, resource allocation, community investment, civil rights protections, and the ability of Black communities to defend themselves against discrimination and state violence!

The fight for Black voting rights is a fight for dignity, representation, safety, and self-determination for Black people everywhere.
