Shade was only 4 months old when she was attacked by another dog. She suffered hemorrhaging puncture wounds to her neck. Her frantic owners were forced to consider putting their puppy to sleep because they could not afford her emergency medical care. Thanks to the generosity of animal lovers like you, Positive Tails was able to fund Shade's lifesaving treatment.

One of the most common emergencies we see are blocked cats. There are so many reasons why this can happen..stress, diet, but the frustrating thing is that it can also happen for no clear reason at all.
Zeus was rushed into when his family noticed he was struggling to urinate. This can be deadly if not treated with urgency. This is also a costly emergency because often requires an extended hospital stay and a lot of medical intervention.
Zeus’s family needed help covering his care. They contacted for help. We approved their case and his very trusted medical team saved Zeus and made this family reunion possible. Your support makes this possible-so thank you from us and everyone that knows and loves Zeus.

Say hello to Akela and her family. Akela translates to leader of the pack and if you saw how her family dotes on her the name makes sense. We first met this family at our last veterinary pop up clinic in the Bronx in collaboration with
At the time Akela received her vaccines and wellness check but when her doctor sat down to talk to her family about other issues Akela was experiencing we knew Akela needed a follow up visit with one of our partner clinics. Akela had just that at (the team we can always count on!)
This is the importance of the clinics. This is why we insist that everyone attending sits down with a veterinary team because this is how treatable conditions are discovered and resolved.

There are follow ups with every clinic but our last one had the largest number of attendees leaving about $10,000 in follow up care. Your support makes these follow ups possible, helps us to get to the bottom of long-standing health issues because vet care is not always accessible, and most importantly keeps companion animals in their homes and with the families that adore them.

Poor Shade was attacked by another dog. His family rushed him to and Shade had puncture wounds in his jugular. Due to the location this was very serious and Shade needed immediate help. His medical team was able to stabilize her but she would need surgical wound repair and around the clock care to make it through. Shade’s life was only just beginning so when was contacted it was an immediate yes for us!
Shade received the care she needed and we’re thrilled to say she has been reunited with her family (and her new little friend went home with her too)
Your support makes it possible for us to say yes to so many emergencies..so thank you! Thank you from us, thank you from Shade’s medical team (for giving them the opportunity to save Shade), and from Shade’s family-it is because of you that they have a long life together ahead of them!

Holly’s family noticed this sweet little stray near their home a couple of months ago. Instead of ignoring Holly, or bringing her to the very crowded city shelter, or contacting the very overwhelmed rescue groups they took Holly in.
While they were able to take of her immediate needs..food and most importantly shelter, affordable vet care was hard to attain. They reached out to when it was clear that Holly was going through her first heat and inquired about getting her spayed. We reached out to our veterinary partners at and they came through with a very hard to get spay appointment for Holly.
Holly did great and is now back home with her family and will now be much more comfortable.
Thanks to those families like Holly’s for doing their part by taking Holly off the streets and not leaving it for someone else to figure out..which unfortunately happens too often leaving too much of the burden on a few.
Thank you for your support and making Holly’s life a better one!

Meet Gathory. We met her at our last pop up clinic. Her person showed up to our just to talk to us in person about getting Gathory an appointment to be spayed. Her person is experiencing homelessness but still manages to keep Gathory fed, up to date on her vaccinations, and most importantly very, very loved.
Gathory recently received her spay with our partners at
She was the perfect patient. Thanks to her vet team, her family and you. Your support has secured this procedure and has guaranteed that Gathory will avoid some of the most common emergencies associated with not being spayed.

This pup’s family was no longer able to keep her and resorted to asking strangers on the street to take her. Circumstances force people into difficult decisions.
She found herself into the right hands, thankfully! The right person (pictured here) took Sonia (and gave her new name)even though he wasn’t prepared to take in a dog at that moment he knew he had to act so Sonia didn’t end up in the wrong hands. This is a situation we never want to find ourselves in but also one that many of us can relate to.
He reached out to us at about getting her the care she needs. We don’t yet know what that will entail. It is clear that Sonia has been neglected and has medical issues as a result so we don’t yet know the cost of care yet.
We had the opportunity to meet Sonia and we’re getting her into one of our partner vets this week.
Huge thanks to Sonia’s rescuer for doing what was right even when the timing was completely wrong.
Stay tuned..this is only the beginning of Sonia’s story.
