AfroCROWD, in partnership with Wiki Caribbean, is taking a deep dive into Caribbean Culture, Festival, and more this summer.
This journey began in Toronto in February as we focused on the Caribbean cuisine with Wikimedia Canada and Wiki Club Toronto.
From then, we jumped into Carabana in early August and late July. Now, we are taking it down to the local level at a West Indian parade and festival in Connecticut. Finally, on the ground, celebrating in the Caribbean itself in Granada during its Independence Day celebration.
These festivals, cultural celebrations, and parades are examples of ways that Caribbean people both in the Caribbean and in the diaspora are keeping our traditions alive and increasing new ways to share the culture both as a way of expression and as a way of preserving history, culture, and community.
On the ground for us, our AfroCROWD Photographer, Danielle Campbell with Canadian Liaison, Rhonda, followed by our Executive Director, Sherry, and filmmaker Olubayo Jackson who have spread out in local, regional, and on the ground celebrations exampling these events across the board.
