We want to share that Workshop Middle School will be closing its doors at the end of the current 2024-2025 academic year. After careful consideration of our financial and operational challenges, the board has made this difficult but necessary decision.

Workshop Middle School has been a unique educational experiment, creating a space where students could truly discover themselves and flourish. We're immensely proud of what we've accomplished and the impact we've had on everyone who has been part of our journey.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our founders, Andrew Ravin and Denise Daniels, for their visionary leadership, and to the Ravin family for their generous support this year. Our dedicated staff, families, and remarkable students have all contributed to making Workshop the special place it has been.

As we navigate our final months, we remain committed to providing an exceptional educational experience while supporting our community through this transition.

In January, we hosted 16 amazing students from Escola L'Hortizo in Barcelona, Spain. Together, 8th grade students at Workshop Middle School students partnered with students from L'Horitzo to research, design, and engineer collaborative projects in media literacy, science, and - of course - woodworking. Their students also developed their very first Genius Hour projects -- a core foundation for our school and something we hope to begin building with our friends in Barcelona.

From one of our wonderful parents: "We loved every minute of the time we spent with the students from Horitzo! We're impressed with everybody -- even the ways our own children showed such grace and kindness to others. And it was even pretty cool getting to be tourists in our own city. Workshop Middle School . . . you are rock stars!!"

Our 8th grade students returned Saturday from an extended learning exchange program with our partners at Escola L'Horitzo in Barcelona, Spain. There were so many wonderful stories from our experience hosting students here in our community and from the amazing families in Catalonia hosting our students in their homes.

From one of our wonderful parents: "You are so appreciated!! AND it is us that should be also thanking you! My daughter's transformation from 6th grade to arriving back from Barcelona is beyond my wildest dreams!! How much Workshop Middle School has helped me grow as a parent is also something I cherish and didn’t know would even happen!! Thank you for all of your passionate big ideas and all of the amazing teachers that help make everything happen. This school is AMAZING!!!"

Last week, our 8th graders, along with our partners at Trail Blazers Camps, camped out at Mashipacong Estate and went on an overnight canoe trip down the Delaware River. What an amazing team-building adventure for our kiddos!

We are thrilled to announce that our team at Workshop Middle School was accepted to the quarterfinal round of the Yass Prize. The YASS Prize is a $1 million award for truly innovative, sustainable, transformative, outstanding, and sustainable education models.

We are so proud of the work we do together, and we are incredibly excited for this honor. Let's win together!

As your child settles into school, we're hoping they're excited for their teachers and friends and all of the things they will learn this year. As we exit the heights of the pandemic, we expect school processes to head more and more back to normal. This also includes the application, admission, and enrollment processes for middle schools.
