The Heights Players community is saddened to learn of the passing of a beloved character actor—and character—Susan Bucci.

A native of Sheepshead Bay, Susan was bitten by the acting bug while a student in San Francisco in 1971, but found community theater more appealing than the bright lights of the West Coast. Here in Brooklyn, she was involved with Up In Lights and Paper Moon Players while working as a sales assistant for a health club. She joined the Heights for 2014's production of "Broadway Bound" as Mrs. Pitkin. Later credits included "Fools," "42nd Street," "Mame," "Crazy for You," "The Women," "Born Yesterday," "Gypsy," and "Oliver!"

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, and is survived by family including her daughter, Amy.

We regret that Susan will not be around to witness our November production of "The Boys in the Band," a show of which she was particularly fond and once attempted to produce, lamenting "we couldn't get enough men."

Tonight, Tuesday, July 7th at 7:00pm

Performances run September 11th - 27th

Audition Requirements:
Please bring a headshot and resume. Please prepare 16 bars of a musical theater song that best fits and showcases your range. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key and do not sing a ca****la. A short dance audition will be held at 7pm on both nights. Please bring character shoes if you have them, or something you can dance in.
