IT’S NOT DELIVERANCE YOU NEED IT’S AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT
There are many people today who believe that almost everything negative happening in their lives is the result of spiritual warfare. Especially within some charismatic circles, we have developed a culture where everything is a demon, everything is witchcraft, and every difficulty requires deliverance.
But could I propose something to you this morning?
Not everything requires lengthy fasting.
Not everything requires somebody laying hands on you.
Not everything requires oil being poured on you.
Not everything requires a prayer shawl being placed over you.
Sometimes, what you need is simply an attitude adjustment.
Spiritual warfare is real, and deliverance is biblical. But we must be careful not to spiritualize problems that are actually the consequences of our attitudes, choices, habits, lack of discipline, or unwillingness to accept correction.
Some of the greatest battles people are fighting exist in the mind because we have been conditioned to interpret every resistance as a demonic attack.
Sometimes people are not opposing you—you are difficult to work with.
Sometimes witchcraft isn’t blocking your promotion you consistently arrive late, lack discipline, resist instruction, and still expect advancement.
Sometimes people are not rejecting your gift they are responding to your attitude.
Sometimes you don’t need another prophetic word you need to become accountable.
Sometimes you don’t need another deliverance service you need to accept the truth about yourself.
Stop calling everything warfare when God may be calling you to maturity.
The Bible says:
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5
Real transformation begins with a renewed mind.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
I have discovered that when I submit myself to God’s Word and live according to His principles, I stop blaming principalities for things that biblical discipline could correct.
Sometimes the deliverance is discipline.
Sometimes the deliverance is humility.
Sometimes the deliverance is accountability.
Sometimes the deliverance is punctuality.
Sometimes the deliverance is forgiveness.
Sometimes the deliverance is accepting correction.
Sometimes the deliverance is changing your attitude.
Loud shouting doesn’t automatically produce freedom.
Throwing money on an altar doesn’t automatically produce freedom.
Falling on the floor doesn’t automatically mean transformation has taken place.
Jesus said:
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32
Truth brings freedom but we must be willing to accept the truth even when that truth exposes something within ourselves that needs to change.
Before entering warfare against an enemy you believe is attacking you, examine yourself.
Ask yourself:
Is this really warfare or do I need an attitude adjustment?
Sometimes the greatest breakthrough begins when we stop rebuking everything around us and allow God to correct something within us.
