When the Ground Shakes
Friday, June 19, 2026 to Saturday, June 20, 2026 | Riverdale Y

There are moments when the ground beneath us feels unsteady. When trust is shaken, uncertainty takes over, or we find ourselves struggling to stay connected.

Parashat Korach reminds us that healing is not something we do alone. Recovery asks us to choose humility over ego, connection over isolation, and community over going it alone.

Join us for a Shabbat dinner rooted in humility, healing, and shared purpose. Together, we’ll explore what it means to stay grounded when life feels uncertain and how community can help us find our footing again.

Shavuot is the story of receiving. Receiving wisdom, connection, and something sacred we were never meant to hold alone. Recovery asks us to learn how to receive too. To receive support without shame, rest without guilt, and care without feeling like we have to earn it first. So many of us learned how to survive by staying guarded and carrying everything on our own, but healing often begins when we allow ourselves to be supported by others.

The Torah was given in community, and recovery reminds us that transformation happens in community too. Through honest conversations, shared stories, quiet moments of understanding, and people who remind us we do not have to do this alone, we begin to open ourselves to healing.

This Shavuot, may we soften enough to receive what we need. May we remember that receiving is not weakness. It is courage. It is trust. It is recovery. Chag Sameach from 14Y Selah.

To lift someone up doesn’t always require grand gestures. Sometimes it’s as simple as showing up, sharing a meal, offering a blessing, or reminding someone they are not alone.

This Shabbat, we gather around the table for an evening of rest, connection, and community inspired by Parashat Naso and the power of being truly seen. Together, we’ll welcome Shabbat through shared nourishment, meaningful conversation, and the reminder that healing happens in community.

Some seasons of life ask us to become someone new.
And even when the change is good, it can still feel disorienting. Recovery teaches us that transition is not failure. Feeling untethered does not mean you are doing something wrong. Sometimes it means you are growing.
There are moments where we outgrow old versions of ourselves before we fully recognize the new ones forming. Moments where the ground shifts beneath us. Moments where we grieve and heal at the same time.
Recovery reminds us that we do not have to rush through becoming. We can move slowly. We can ask for help. We can stay connected to ourselves and to each other while life changes around us.
Maybe healing is not about becoming someone entirely different. Maybe it is about returning to the truest parts of ourselves with more honesty, softness, and care than before.
Participation-celebrated. Perfection-averse. Everyone-welcome.

Quieting the Silence

BeWell of Jewish Federations of North America, 14Y Selah, and JACS of The Jewish Board invite you to an evening of storytelling about addiction and recovery.

Stories like these are often carried quietly. This night is about bringing them into the light, together.

Join us to listen, to witness, and to remember that none of us are alone in what we carry. We’re especially honored that our very own Jeremy Pool will be sharing his story.

Looking East: Ecstatic Dance
Thursday, May 14 | 7:00 PM | 14th Street Y

There are moments in addiction recovery that feel like distance. And then there are moments of return, subtle and real, where something softens and we find our way back, even just a little.
Yom Yerushalayim carries that energy. A remembering. A reconnection. During the Omer, we move slowly, one day at a time, learning how to stay present in the in-between. Growth that doesn’t rush. Change that unfolds.
This night is an invitation to come back to yourself through music and movement. To release what you’ve been holding. To reconnect without needing to explain.
Guided by a live set from DJ Nina, the music creates an intentional arc for movement, expression, and return.

No choreography. No judgment. Just music, movement, and meaning.
Come as you are.

Counted in the Wilderness Shabbat Dinner
There are seasons that feel like wilderness. In-between, uncertain, still becoming.
Behar and Bechukotai remind us that life moves in rhythm. Holding and letting go. In addiction recovery, that space is real. And still, you are not outside the story.
At 14Y Selah, we gather there together. To pause, reconnect, and be held.
Join us Friday, May 8 at 6:00 PM at Congregation Tifereth Israel.

Come as you are. You are counted.
