The elimination of Jewish history from the arab countries .. The other main synagogue in the city, The Great Synagogue of Algiers, has already been converted into a mosque.

Local sources said that the demolition had been planned for several years but was delayed due to interventions from an unspecified foreign embassy.

Egypt’s Jewish Restoration Projects: Seized Geniza Still Missing

Since the number of Jews remaining in Egypt can now be counted on one hand, the Sisi government’s focus is exclusively on promoting foreign tourism, not on restoring cultural ties with the Egyptian Jewish diaspora. Cairo’s Jewish population numbered almost 50,000 before the 1956 and 1967 wars. The forced emigration of the vast majority of Egyptian Jews in the mid-20th century left the Ben Ezra synagogue deserted and dilapidated for decades.

THE ARABIC DIALECT OF JEWS IN MODERN EGYPT
Jews living in various parts of the Arab world sometimes spoke distinctive Arabic dialects,2 differing in a number of respects from the Arabic spoken by their Muslim and Christian neighbors. As Haim Blanc has pointed out, however, until recently the Arabic spoken by the Jews of Egypt in the twentieth century has been thought to differ very little from that spoken by non-Jews.

In essence, the Jews of Egypt founded Egypt's modern economy. How did Egypt's rulers thank them? Denial of citizenship, denial of employment, massacres, property confiscation, and detention and torture in Egypt's notorious prisons for years.

A Personal Exodus Story
This story was written as the positive act of a 'witness', witnessing what transpired to my family and me, during the early days of June 1967; having been deported from Egypt and having immigrated subsequently to America. The story starts on the first day of the 'six days' war and takes us step by step from jail to jail and finally onto a freighter to reach the first safe haven of many, Crete, Koln, Paris and finally America.
