Her promising future was cut short, and, as she describes it, her experience as a young Black girl in America meant her story was largely overlooked."

There will be days when the vision feels larger than the resources.
There will be moments when the road seems longer than you imagined.
There will be prayers whispered that only God hears.
But never forget...
The same God who planted the vision is not surprised by the journey.
He is already present in the next conversation.
The next partnership.
The next "yes."
The next provision.
The next person whose life will be changed because you chose to keep going.
So walk in peace.
Lead with courage.
Rest without guilt.
Dream without apology.
And remember...
A Little Piece of Light was never meant to illuminate the whole world by itself.
It was meant to light one candle after another.
Until the room was full of light.
Today, I choose to believe that the work continues, that hope still matters, and that God is already preparing what I cannot yet see.
If these words encourage even one person to keep going, then they have already fulfilled their purpose.
May we all be a little piece of light in someone else's life.

Advocates, survivors, and Democratic Assemblymembers Linda Rosenthal and Catalina Cruz convened at the Capitol on Tuesday to call on legislators to pass the bill before session ends on Friday. It has already advanced in the Senate and is stuck in the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
