Every BKCGS open mic begin with a unique “warm-up” exercise, a short composition written or arranged by community members. The warm up is sight-read together, bringing participants into a shared musical experience. This warm up—from 2023—was composed by BKCGS member . More warm-exercises are available on our Youtube channel.

This spring, please consider a donation to our Open Mic Fundraiser, and help support the warm up, the videography, and all the musicians who rely on the BKCGS monthly open mics for performance, social, and networking opportunities. Every BKCGS open mic performance is professionally recorded and, with performer permission, posted to the BKCGS Youtube channel. In fact, since our first open mic in November 2022, we’ve shared hundreds of open mic performances that reflect the depth of talent in our community, the breadth of our members’ musical knowledge, and the diversity of the classical guitar community and its repertoire.

Open mic recordings are also available to BKCGS members, and are used for audition; school, grant, and job applications; promotion; and simply to share with friends and family.

Making the videos is labor intensive, and requires hours of mixing, editing, and downloading and uploading, but they are of great value to our community.

It is all FREE, but only possible through the generous support of members and donors like you. This spring, we’re working to raise $2400 to sustain our open mics, which are free for performers and audience members. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution today at https://supporter.bkcgs.org/page/spring26.

🎸 $10 helps cover basic event supplies
🎸 $20 supports a performer
🎸 $35 supports event hospitality
🎸 $50 helps keep open mics free
🎸 $100 supports an open mic (including the recording)
🎸 $200 funds an entire open mic

And be sure to checkout youtube.com/ for some wonderful performances!

Thank you!
