It's been a whillllleeeeeeeeeeeeeee guys lol. But I'm so happy to pop my head into the land of Instagram to check on you guys in HORNTD land. As the founder of House Of Roses N The Dark, I really wanted to give a space for art, healing, expression, and to connect through cathartic channels. We've interviewed artists all over the world, and showcased a variety of art styles and mediums. It has been such a blessing to connect, even just for a moment in time.

We are HORNTD love to show love to other artists, but never in my lifetime did I think my own art work made it to the Instagram ethos 😂😂😂. Shout out to for posting this. Issa established artist now haha. Well back in my ceramic days I entered a small but eye opening contest and was selected from the school. Whoopy right!!!! I was hella proud too. But I never got to pick up my piece and it's somewhere on someone's desk in Brooklyn or Lord knows where. Lol hey if someone likes it I love it. I was able to keep a few pieces from my ceramics class over the years though and still have them next to my books lol.

Keep creating guys even if it's just for fun. You never know if it makes it to Instagram land.

Take Care

2022 is just around the corner, have you thought about what resolutions you want to make? Have you reflected on your 2021 resolutions? Did you accomplish everything you set out to?

Society has made a culture around waiting for the beginning of each new year to set your intentions, goals, plans, and habits, but why do we wait for January 1st to start fresh, when we have a fresh day every day that we can take advantage of?

Challenge yourself to set one new intention for each day, and see what happens after 30 days.

Our “I’ve Got Plans” journal is the perfect tool for you to write it down each morning and reflect on it each night. Visit the link in bio to learn more.

Mental health symptoms can sometimes be hard to notice, especially if you’re not keeping track of patterns in your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. It can also be hard to know what exactly you should be looking out for and aware of. That’s why mental health awareness initiatives are so important.

If you think you or someone you care about might be struggling with mental health, here are five key signs to look out for.

– Changes in sleeping patterns
– Loss of appetite
– Impulsive decision making
– Turning to drugs or alcohol in moments of distress
– Suicidal thoughts

Talk to a mental health expert if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms.

It’s easy to say that you want to improve your life, but without actively taking action, nothing will change.

We know it can be overwhelming figuring out where to start, so here are a few things you can start with to improve your life  ~

– Take the time every morning to set intentions for your day — write a [better] story for your day.

– Identify what’s keeping you where you are, in this cycle of wanting to start but not being able to.

– Go to bed earlier.

– Do some physical activity that you enjoy.

– Set realistic and attainable goals.

– Practice gratitude.

– Let go of what you can’t control.

And don’t forget to keep track of these daily accomplishments, regardless of how small they might seem. Keeping a journal is one of the best ways to do this. If you’re looking for a journal that keeps you motivated while giving you plenty of space to get your thoughts down, visit the link in our bio.

Studies consistently prove that creativity has many mental health benefits, which is why we put so much focus on helping people experiencing mental health illness through artistic therapies. Here are just some of the positive impacts creativity has on your mental wellbeing!

⭐️ Relieves both stress and anxiety
⭐️ Lessens anger, shame, and depression felt from trauma
⭐️ Can help you express how you’re really feeling inside
⭐️ Helps us perceive the world in new and different ways
⭐️ Puts us in a flow state, which allows us to feel more positive and brings a sense of accomplishment
⭐️ Helps us make new neural pathways, increasing connectivity in the brain, which makes us more emotionally resilient
⭐️ Refreshes our body and mind

In what ways have you found creative activities to be beneficial in your life?

We’re crushing mental health stigmas with our newest initiative and bringing awareness to the negative impacts they can have on someone struggling with anxiety or depression.

As more and more people are empowered to address their mental health conditions, it’s also important that they are not met with shame for it. Society as a whole needs to normalize the conversation surrounding mental health, across all cultures and all socioeconomic backgrounds.

That is our goal with Art Makes Healing Go Round. Join the movement by shopping our new line of products and your purchase will go towards providing mental health resources and support for those in need.

We are very excited to have started this mental health journey with you. The many lives that have touched us have been both humbling and fulfilling.

House of Roses N The Dark was founded in September 2020 to provide art education and therapeutic services to the mental health community.PTSD, depression. As a standing member of the organization, I am very humbled to be a part of an outstanding team , and ecstatic on where House Of Roses N The Dark is going.  Our organization passionately strives to break the barriers in the fine art and mental health world.

For the past year we can experience endearing stories from artists around the world. It has been a truly gratifying experience to see impactful interviews that transcend the art and mental health barrier. Each interview is a pivotal moment of inspiration for others, and has developed a mantra that solidifies the use of art as a tool in the healing process.

As we approach the upcoming year our aim is to raise awareness and problem solve the stigma and challenges of those affected through art. In conjunction we celebrate surrounding artists, community initiative and humanitarian connection. HORNTD lives to be a game changer and serve as a beacon for diversity commutative impact.  And we are just getting started.

Thank you

In order to combat mental health stigma, we need to raise awareness across all areas of our lives, including work.

Does your workplace promote mental health awareness? What initiatives do they have in place? If this is an area where they’re lacking, here are some ideas you can offer your HR department.

– Make mental health self-assessment tools available to all employees.
– Offer free or subsidized clinical screenings for depression from a qualified mental health professional, followed by directed feedback and clinical referral when appropriate.
– Offer health insurance with no or low out-of-pocket costs for depression medications and mental health counseling.
– Provide free or subsidized lifestyle coaching, counseling, or self-management programs.
– Distribute materials, such as brochures, fliers, and videos, to all employees about the signs and symptoms of poor mental health and opportunities for treatment.
– Host seminars or workshops that address depression and stress management techniques, like mindfulness, breathing exercises, and meditation, to help employees reduce anxiety and stress and improve focus and motivation.
– Create and maintain dedicated, quiet spaces for relaxation activities.
– Provide managers with training to help them recognize the signs and symptoms of stress and depression in team members and encourage them to seek help from qualified mental health professionals.
– Give employees opportunities to participate in decisions about issues that affect job stress.

Data from the (CDC) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorder and use of mental health care among adults during the COVID-19 Pandemic — United States

From August 2020 to February 2021, the percentage of adults has been documented that recent symptoms of anxiety or depressive disorders have increased from 36.4% to 41.5%. What’s worse is the percentage of those reporting unmet mental health care needs has increased from 9.2% to 11.7%. Adults from the age of 18 to 29 years and those who have less than a high school education were of the largest increases in their findings.

Just something to chew on.
