This Pride Month, join Unlock NYC and our partners for a conversation about the intersection of fair housing and LGBTQ+ rights.

LGBTQ+ communities continue to face barriers to safe and stable housing, making fair housing protections and access to resources more important than ever.

Together, we'll explore the challenges LGBTQ+ New Yorkers face in housing, discuss available protections and resources, and highlight how collective action can help create an equitable housing system for all new yorkers.

🏳️‍🌈 Because everyone deserves a safe place to call home.

🔑 Leadership Collective alum Nailah Abdul-Mubdi is speaking up for voucher holders across New York.

Recently featured in City Limits, Nailah shared her concerns about proposed cuts to the NYC Commission on Human Rights and the impact they could have on New Yorkers facing housing discrimination.

💬 "I was very disappointed, because I know the impact that CCHR has."

After experiencing source of income discrimination during her own housing search, Nailah received support from CCHR that helped her secure housing.

We're proud to celebrate Leadership Collective member Elizabeth Byrd, who recently spoke at the United Nations during the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Centered on the theme, "Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities," Elizabeth shared her experience navigating New York City's housing system as a voucher holder and highlighted the barriers too many New Yorkers continue to face in their search for safe and stable housing.

We believe those most impacted by housing discrimination should be leading the conversation—and Elizabeth is doing exactly that.

Congratulations, Elizabeth, on bringing your voice and advocacy to the global stage. 🌎🏠✨

This Memorial Day, we’re reminding veterans and HUD-VASH voucher holders that housing discrimination is illegal. Too many veterans still face voucher refusals, ghosting from landlords, and other barriers while trying to secure housing.
If it happens to you in NY, report it with Rights Recorder 📲

Fair Housing Month may be ending, but the barriers facing voucher holders continue every day. 🏠
Our latest blog, Revisiting Fair Housing: Why Voucher Holders Are Still Being Locked Out, explores how discrimination, administrative delays, and weak enforcement keep too many families from accessing housing opportunities.

Housing support must be more than words. It must mean accountability, enforcement, and systems that actually work. ✊🏽
