Get ready for an exciting school year with Rec on the Go! This FREE mobile recreation program brings fun, active, and engaging experiences directly to youth and families all across Brooklyn Park. Rec on the Go will run from Monday, September 14, 2026 until Thursday, June 2, 2027.

Designed for youth in Kindergarten through 5th grade, Rec on the Go gives kids the opportunity to make new friends, stay active, get creative, and explore something new all while having a great time in their own community!

Throughout the fall, youth can look forward to:
Sports and active games
Arts, crafts, and creative projects
STEM and science activities
Team-building challenges
Group games and recreation activities
Nature and outdoor exploration
Special activities with community partners

We’ll also welcome local community organizations to join us throughout the season and introduce youth to exciting new experiences, from wellness and movement activities to hands-on educational opportunities and more.

Meals and snacks will be provided to youth ages 18 and younger.

Rec on the Go is all about fun, friendship, exploration, and community! Whether your child loves sports, creating, learning, or simply hanging out with friends, there’s something for everyone.

We are excited to offer both Morning Mix and Fusion this school year at the Zanewood Recreation Center. Both offerings begin September 8 and have flexible scheduling offerings. Read more below and get signed up today!

Morning Mix: September 8 - June 10 | 6-9:00 a.m.

Start your child's day with Morning Mix at Zanewood Recreation Center! Our before school program operates Monday through Friday from 6:00–9:00 AM, providing a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for youth before the school day begins.

Children will enjoy a variety of age appropriate activities, including games, arts and crafts, group activities, quiet enrichment opportunities, and time to socialize with friends. Whether they're creating, playing, or simply easing into the morning at their own pace. Morning Mix helps children start each day feeling confident, energized, and ready to learn.

Breakfast is also available to help students begin their morning fueled and ready for success.

Fusion K–5: September 8 - June 10 | 4 - 6 p.m.

Join us for an exciting and engaging afterschool experience! Fusion is designed for youth in grades K–5 and provides a safe, welcoming environment where children can learn, grow, and have fun after the school day.

Our program is built around creating meaningful experiences that encourage creativity, teamwork, leadership, and personal growth. Participants will enjoy a variety of enriching activities, including:

Our Sewing 101 class will leave you in stitches, in the best way possible!

Ready to learn a fun, lifelong skill? Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine or just want to brush up on your skills, this class is designed for YOU. No experience needed, and we’ve got all the supplies covered! We even have sewing machines on site (but feel free to bring your own if you prefer).

Scholarships and fee assistance are available because everyone deserves a chance to get creative!

Swim - Aqua-Finners

Ages 5-14: September 12 - December 19 (Jackson and Brooklyn Middle School)

This group lesson is designed to meet the needs of children who have developmental disabilities and want to learn how to be safe in and around the water. These lessons will be held during quiet pool time to minimize sensory overload and distractions. We will focus on learning basic water safety and introduction swimming skills in an inclusive and supportive environment. Adaptive Recreation Specialist, Erin, will contact you for more information about your swimmer prior to the start of the session.

Swim - Aqua Fun Fit!

Ages 15+: September 15 - December 15 (Brooklyn Middle School)

Join us for a fun and active aquatics class! This class is specifically designed for adults with developmental disabilities who already have a sense of water safety and basic swim skills and are looking for a fun way to stay active in the water with their peers. Participants will engage in various games and activities, modified for all ability levels.

Beauty Within - Adaptive Art

Ages 13+: September 17 - December 17 (CAC)

Explore your creative side in our new Beauty Within – Adaptive Art Class! This class is designed for ages 13+ with developmental disabilities. Participants will engage in guided art projects each day that they will take home at the end of class. This class gives participants the opportunity to create art and socialize with their peers in a fun and inclusive environment. Family Members / Personal Caregivers are welcome to attend. All class materials will be provided. Pre-Registration is required.

Adaptive Fitness Classes

Ages 13+: September 16 - December 16 (CAC)

Join us for an active session of adaptive fitness! This class is intended for individuals of all ages with a developmental disability. Participants will enjoy staying active through various fitness games and activities, modified for all abilities. We will focus on learning different exercises and techniques within a fun group dynamic! Please bring a water bottle and wear tennis shoes. Pre – Registration is required.

COSA Fest 2026 is a celebration of culture, community, and connection for everyone. As Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center are home to one of the largest Southeast Asian communities in Minnesota, this festival is an opportunity to honor the traditions, stories, music, food, and contributions of Southeast Asian families while bringing together people from all backgrounds to celebrate the diversity that makes our communities strong.
