10x Boys size 6/7 long sleeve t-shirts shirts

What a weekend we had!

We got to meet (in person) some of our new clients and get to know them better. We got to hug other clients that have been with us a bit longer. Our mamas got to take home clothes for themselves and their kiddos plus all the school supplies on their lists. Our mamas with littles (or pregnant) took home the remaining diapers and wipes we had from a previous diaper drive. It was a fantastic day!

THEN we had a successful 3rd Annual Community Garage Sale on Saturday. Lots of new faces, including a wonderful grandma that was shopping for all 7 of her grandkids (more to that story later). A couple came in towards the end of our day, didn't see anything they wanted to buy, but handed us a cash donation. They left and then a few minutes later the gentleman came back in and gave us more cash and told us a bit about his life:

He grew up in an abusive home and began working at age 8 on a farm. He's been working his whole life and is now in his 50s, trying to help every person he can that he sees in a tough spot. A few years ago he helped a teen mom that was a victim of SA. He said she recently reconnected and has a wonderful life with her child and is helping a 12 year old escape an abusive home. We all had chills with the ripple effect of helping a DV survivor and his willingness to share with complete strangers and as a brand new transplant to MN from Pennsylvania.

Something we hear time and again from our clients and other DV survivors, "I was helped, I want to help." or "I don't want anyone to experience the struggle I did in starting over."

THANK YOU incredible community for all your donations to our garage sale, for your time in helping us prepare, work, and clean up the sale, and for coming to shop. I don't have an official total of funds raised (we were all pretty wiped by the end of the day Saturday), but it looks like we raised about $1200 to cover school supplies and diapers for our families. WOW!

P.S. If you'd still like to donate, we could use funds for new tennis shoes for a few of our kiddos. Anythings above and beyond that need, will be used to purchase more diapers and wipes.

Did you know?

We are a free volunteer-run nonprofit. This week volunteers have been putting in lots of hours
- sorting, organizing and displaying items for our 3rd Annual Community Garage Sale
- baking for the bake sale at the Garage Sale
- onboarding new clients
- purchasing school supplies and diapers for all the kiddos in our care

All while working our regular jobs, caring for our families, and juggling meetings and other commitments.

Huge thanks to our Donations Coordinator, Kim Johnson, for organizing our sale this weekend her lovely helpers Barb McGovern, Jeanne Dombeck Jay, Ellen Formica Jordano, and the whole Eryn Lynn Hampton Conley crew. We would not have survived this week without you! πŸ’œ

Hi amazing community! 2 things:
1. Can you please share about our 3rd Annual Community Garage Sale to your friends, family and coworkers? One share on your own page could reach hundreds of people we might not normally reach. We'd love to empty our garage sale space and raise funds to cover school supplies for all the kiddos in our care.

2. Would anyone be interested in running a Diaper Drive for us? We've had a few individuals and businesses run these for us in the past. We have onboarded some new clients and are in the process of onboarding some more mamas that are either pregnant or have very young children/babies. Our supplies are low! If you are willing to organize this for us, please send us a DM or email Maddie at [email protected].

Throwback to when Chase Beauty Bar hosted our first Diaper Drive.

Okay survivors,

What would YOU put on a T-shirt to support other survivors or people considering leaving abuse?

Maddie commented a regular reminder for some of our clients:

What if it was your
Daughter
Sister
Best Friend
Mother

Sometimes people minimize the harm until they look through the lens of it happening to a loved one.

Delivery is underway for our Mother's Day self care gifts. So many businesses and individuals contributed to make this a lovely variety of self-care items. We couldn't do our work without the support of our incredible community. πŸ’œ

Here's my morning exchange with drop off #1. This mama has had surgery, custody issues and landlord problems this year. I know this gift is the levity she needs to keep fighting for herself and her kids. πŸ’β€οΈ

P.S. if you want to support our amazing DV survivors, you can do so here. All our funding goes directly to client needs like groceries, car repairs, and rental or utility help.

Our Donations Coordinator, Kim Johnson, has also been busy gathering things for our Mother's Day baskets. Many thanks to Starbucks Maple Grove, Biaggi's, Trader Joe's, Perkins Maple Grove, Nothing Bundt Cakes Maple Grove and Chipotle, Maple Grove for your contributions to our baskets.

Eating out is such a luxury for many people, especially our families, so we are thrilled that our mamas can enjoy some food they didn't have to cook themselves. πŸ’œ
