Today is Moms’ Equal Pay Day. Moms working full-time, year-round, were paid 74 cents, and all earners were paid 64 cents for every dollar paid to dads in 2024.

Every worker deserves equal pay for equal work. When moms earn fair wages, families are stronger, communities thrive, and everyone benefits.

That's why UFCW members stand together to fight for fair pay, good union jobs, paid leave, affordable childcare, and workplace protections that help working families succeed.

The Fair Price Protection Act, signed into law by Governor Sherrill, made New Jersey the FIRST state in the nation to ban surveillance pricing AND freeze the use of electronic shelf labels in grocery stores.
Combined, this technology is capable of squeezing families AND eliminating good union jobs those same families rely on – and now, it has no place in New Jersey.
Is your state next?

🔥📨 Read this letter of support for our union siblings at BCTGM Local 22 from UFCW Local 663 President Rena Wong and Secretary-Treasurer Michael LaCoste to Lunds & Byerlys:

UFCW Local 663 stands in solidarity with BCTGM Local 22. These bakers’ skill and dedication is commendable. Their decades of faithful customer service have contributed greatly to the financial success of Lunds & Byerlys. They deserve a contract that protects their retirement, healthcare, and paid time off.

We write to express our deep concern regarding the following positions Lunds & Byerlys has taken in negotiations with our union siblings at BCTGM Local 22:

1) Withdrawing from the BCTGM pension - this undercuts workers’ ability to retire with dignity and is especially puzzling since the pension plan is fully funded;
2) Insistence on healthcare contributions for Lunds & Byerlys that falls below the standards set by other employers participating in the same fund; and
3) Reducing the amount of PTO members are able to use for ESST.

Lunds & Byerlys built a reputation over generations as a respected, family-owned Minnesota grocer. That reputation carries a responsibility to treat employees with fairness and respect.

We urge Lunds & Byerlys to negotiate in good faith, value the work of BCTGM Local 22 members, and reach an agreement that respects and protects workers.

“These are the highest raises we’ve ever won. We put in a lot of work talking to our coworkers and showing up to bargaining,” said Hser Wah from the Cut department at QPP. “It paid off.”

Around this time last year, workers at Quality Pork Processors (QPP) in Austin, MN organized, fought for, and won a historic Union contract. They won the largest wage increase ever seen at QPP (15.6%), a $200 ratification bonus, and improvements to their vision and dental benefits. Read more about this historic victory here:

Today is Black Women’s Equal Pay Day. Black women earn just 65¢ for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men.

Union contracts help close that gap. Through collective bargaining, we win fair wages, transparency, and protections that lift up all workers, especially those most impacted by pay inequity.

Equal pay happens when workers organize.
