Vets, eat your veggies!

September is Market Month for Vouchers for Veterans!

Throughout the month of September, Vouchers for Veterans will be at 10 different farmers markets each week across New Hampshire and Southern Maine.

Every veteran and active-duty service member is welcome to visit any participating market and receive a FREE $20 voucher to spend on fresh, locally grown foods and other related items. Our program is not based on financial need—it is simply our way of saying "Thank you for your service."

The impact goes far beyond the veterans we serve. When those vouchers are used, the farmers and market vendors redeem them with Vouchers for Veterans for their full face value. If 200 veterans receive vouchers at a market, that's $4,000 going directly into the hands of local farmers and food producers in a single day. Those farmers, in turn, spend that money in their own communities, supporting other local businesses.

It's a beautiful circle of neighbors helping neighbors—a giant circle of love that honors those who served while strengthening our local economy.

Because Vouchers for Veterans receives no state or federal funding, every voucher is made possible through the generosity of local businesses, organizations, foundations, and individuals who believe our veterans deserve this simple but meaningful "thank you."

Together, we're feeding veterans, supporting local agriculture, and investing in the communities we all call home. ❤️🇺🇸

PERSPECTIVE.

I’ve sat here all week and watched the barrage of holier-than-thou service members attack Lance Corporal Jordan Houston after he received the Bronze Star with Valor this week.

Picking apart his uniform. His ribbons. His badges. Zooming in looking for anything they can find wrong with him.

If you’re one of those people:

F**K YOU.

Some of the loudest critics are the same people constantly preaching about veteran su***de, mental health, brotherhood, and taking care of our own.

You don’t get to preach about taking care of our own while publicly tearing one of them apart.

I know what it feels like to be that young Marine. I’ve had people inside our own community criticize every move, every mistake, and everything they thought was wrong with me. Very few ever stopped to ask if I was okay.

Years later, some of those same people wanted to shake my hand and pretend they gave a s**t all along.

I remember.

That’s why I’m not looking at what’s wrong with Houston’s uniform. I’m looking at the Marine wearing it.

Half of you criticizing him can’t handle a negative comment on social media without getting triggered. You damn sure couldn’t handle half the world dissecting your life while carrying whatever weight this young man is carrying.

Get off your high horse. Reach a hand out instead of kicking him while he’s down. Ask the Marine if he’s okay.

To me, Houston is a brother and a hero. I’m proud to wear the same uniform as him. If he needs help climbing this mountain, I’ll stand next to him the entire way.

Most of you tearing him apart don’t rate to hold his jockstrap.

I hope he turns every ounce of this criticism into fuel and keeps climbing.

When he reaches the top, some of you will reach out to shake his hand, take the picture, and pretend you helped him get there.

I hope he gives you the middle finger.

Taking care of our own isn’t something you post about.

It’s what you do when one of your own needs you.

Be the example.

The puts on a patriotic show. I’ve seen them in Anchorage and DC and can’t wait to see them right here in NH!
