Dear Brookline Recreation Therapy Family,
I will be resigning my position as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in Brookline on July 15, 2023. I have accepted the position to be the first Therapeutic Recreation Specialist for the Town of Westwood, Massachusetts.
I would like to take a moment and let you know it has been a pleasure and a joy getting to know each and every one of you over the last 4 years. We have been through the excitement of athletes making their first basket, the thrill of facing our fears and climbing up a mountain during hiking club, or sharing our exciting news of a new job during Forever Young. Together, and through the dark days of the Global COVID-19 Pandemic, we stayed connected and brightened each other’s spirit. We envisioned better days on the beach, the woods, and our happy place, while playing charades, singing, and moving and grooving.
All our programs would not have been successful without the support of our terrific coaches, volunteers and part time staff. It has been my pleasure to work and learn from each one of them during our programs. I will be forever grateful for all they have done for me and the Brookline Recreation Therapy Division. I would also like to thank our many community partners, including Brookline Police Department, Special Olympics MA, Brookline Fire Department, the staff at Brookline Recreation, and more.
If you wish to stay in touch with me in Westwood, you can email at [email protected] or call the main number at (781) 461-0070.
It has been my honor to be your Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. There is a song in Hebrew that is called “Shalom Chaverim”. The English Translation is “Farewell, my friends. Till we meet again”. In other words, this is not a goodbye forever, it is until we see each other again.
Sincerely,
Micah Barshay
