Today is the yahrzeit of Michael Jeser. Our Bog Field is named in his honor, recognizing his legendary camp career and the lasting impact he had on our community. Today, his daughter, Leni, and his niece, Chloe, lit a candle in his memory. May his memory continue to be a blessing.

We are still looking for host families for our Summer 2026 staff! Here is a testimonial from one of our amazing host families:

Hosting international staff from Camp Tevya has been an incredible experience for our family. It’s an amazing way for us to give back to the place that has given so much to our son—and it’s brought us even closer to the spirit of what makes Tevya so special.

Over the last two years, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming some phenomenal counselors into our home. We’ve shared stories over meals, exchanged culture, laughed endlessly, learned about each other’s families and played more new card games than we can count.

We’re so grateful for the lasting connections we’ve made—friendships that extend far beyond the summer. We stay in touch throughout the year and look forward to that warm reunion hug when they return.

If you’re considering hosting, do it. You’ll be offering these kids a place to recharge—a home away from home—and gaining something truly special in return.

The Potischman Family

Host Family: What Does that Mean?

Drop off: Someone from camp will drop off international counselors at your house around 7:00. The number of counselors varies — depending on how many you can host. We usually send groups of 2-4.

Food: We will let you know if the counselors have any dietary restrictions (kosher, vegetarian, etc.). There are many different options for feeding the counselors. Some host families order food such as pizza for them. If you do order for them, it is fine to keep it very simple. Again, they are so grateful to have am outside meal. You can also take them to a restaurant for any part of their day off, and they can get food on their own.

Sleeping: Make sure the counselors have a place to sleep. They can share rooms and fold out couches are fine! The counselors are tired, so they are so appreciative of sleeping late.

Activities: Again, there are many different options for activities. Sometimes the counselors just want to relax around the house. They also may want to stop off at the mall or a Target. Finally, some counselors may want to go into Boston so you can take them to a close-by T stop or get them there in whatever way works for you.

Pick Up: Finally, someone from camp will pick them up around 8:00.
