Yesterday morning, Brookline Firefighters operated at Box 147, 213 Boylston Street, for a rapidly developing 3rd Alarm fire in a mixed residential and commercial occupancy.

Companies arrived to heavy fire conditions and a challenging operation involving a commercial dive shop, residential exposure concerns, and hazardous conditions inside the building. Members worked aggressively to protect life, contain the fire, and bring the incident under control.

We are proud of the professionalism, teamwork, and commitment shown by our members and all mutual aid companies who responded. Incidents like this are a reminder of the dangerous and unpredictable work firefighters face every day.

Our thoughts are with the injured worker and everyone impacted by this fire. Also thank you to our mutual aide partners for their support.

The Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts have made it clear: this vote matters.

On May 5, Brookline residents have a choice to protect public safety, keep firehouses open, and prevent the layoff of 26 firefighters.

Brookline is a dense, busy community with high-rise buildings, schools, healthcare facilities, commercial districts, and neighborhoods that depend on a fully staffed fire department. When emergencies happen, seconds matter and staffing matters.

These proposed cuts would weaken emergency response, increase risk for residents and firefighters, and make it harder to manage multiple emergencies at the same time.

A YES vote on May 5 is a vote to preserve public safety, maintain emergency response, and protect the level of service Brookline residents deserve.

We are grateful for the support of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts and the more than 13,000 firefighters they represent.

Public safety is not optional. It is essential.

Vote YES on May 5.

04/29/2026

When emergencies happen in Brookline, firefighters are there.

Fires. Medical calls. Crashes. Alarms. Hazards. Rescues.
The calls do not stop, and neither does the need for a fully staffed fire department.

This override is about protecting response capability, keeping companies in service, and making sure help is there when our community needs it most.

Public safety depends on staffing.

Vote YES.

Staffing is not about one fire. It is about capacity.

Brookline firefighters respond to fires, medical calls, crashes, alarms, rescues, gas leaks, smoke investigations, and multiple emergencies happening at the same time.

We also train constantly so we are ready when those calls come in.

If Brookline loses firefighters, Brookline loses response capacity.

That affects public safety, emergency coverage, and the help residents count on every day.

Vote YES on May 5.
