We need your help getting Momma and her two babies from Rescued Treasures Pet Adoptions to Helping All Little Things this weekend! This transport will be for three guinea pigs in 2-3 carriers total.

Beefcake had surgery today at Southern Maine Hospital for Small Mammals. As always, everyone was amazing and made Wheektopia’s sweet piggies as comfortable as possible (another post about the other pigs later).

Beefcake’s hump was pretty gnarly! I learned another sad thing about skinny pigs today: the genetics that prevent them from growing fur also causes thinner, delicate skin. Beefcake needed 14 staples to hold her incision together and will have a badass zipper scar!

I absolutely love this spunky girl. She’s going great: eating, enjoying her heating pad (thank you to whoever donated that pad that is activated when a piggy snuggles down in it, it’s perfect!), and having some time in her cage. Since she had staples, we decided it’s best she recovers in her own space.

We drained the rescue account today, if you would like to help us out, we will have some fundraising opportunities or just jump in now (see below)!

Today I had a little snuggle time with Clementine and her babies, Beefcake joined too.

NOTE: Babies are cute and amazing, but I definitely don’t condone breeding or letting your guinea pig “experience” motherhood. Occasionally I take in pregnant guinea pigs and I do celebrate these little lives, but there are enough babies.

Everyone is healthy and Clementine is hilarious. In the last pic/reel, you can see her bulldoze her babies to get to some greens. She’s doing great, feeding babies, and caring for herself.

Babies! 💕🐹💕

It’s been a little while since we had babies born in Wheektopia. Last Wednesday a family contacted me because they took in two guinea pigs that week, not realizing one was pregnant and were pretty stressed about the health of the mama. They were trying to rehome on Facebook, but I was concerned that mom wouldn’t get the support she needed, so I took her in (and her friend, Toast).

She’s a sweet, shy piggy I named Clementine. Beefcake’s bonding didn’t work out great, so I tried her with Clementine and they’re friends!

Today I walked downstairs, reached into Clementine’s favorite fleece tunnel, and discovered three perfect babies. Mama is doing great, babies are feeding and zooming, Beefcake is a bit dazed, but all is well. 😆🐹

New Wheektopia herd! Our two senior trios: S’mores, Toffee, and Sundae; and Oreo, Honey, and Cannoli bonded today! Oreo is a neutered boar and everything went great. They will all live with our wonderful senior sanctuary foster, Kassia at pupnpals . Thank you for loving these babies!

Morgan and Malibu did great at their first Read with a Guinea Pig at Brookline NH Public Library I loved seeing new and reoccurring faces. Thank you to everyone who came to read with one of these sweet girls! 📚🐹📚
