We wanted to make you aware of the HCHC Alumni Scholarship.

The scholarship will be awarded to one student enrolled in the upcoming school year for Hellenic College and one student enrolled in the upcoming school year for Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. Each student will receive $1,000. This will be decided by the Scholarship Committee of the HCHC Alumni Council. To be eligible, students must be the child of an HCHC Alumni. Financial need will also be taken into consideration. In order to receive it, they must write a 300 word essay on a topic as indicated on the application form. Topics are subject to change yearly. If they are chosen, they are then asked to pray for the names of those who donated toward the scholarship.

Please share this with any child of an Alumni currently enrolled at HCHC.

Application must be e-mailed to [email protected]. The deadline has been extended to March 30, 2026.

May Their Memory Be Eternal!

The HCHC Alumni Memorial Wall & Electronic List is a project of the HCHC Alumni Association. Each year this list will be sent out 3 times: the week before the Saturday of Souls leading up to Great and Holy Lent, the week leading up to the Saturday of Souls before Holy Pentecost, and the week leading up to September 14th, the feast of our beloved school. Please see the list attached. It is also available at https://www.hchc.edu/alumni/memorial-list/.

If there is a member of the alumni who has passed away, and their name is not on this list, we ask that you please send an e-mail to [email protected], include the name of the deceased, the year(s) that they graduated and from which school, and a link to their obituary. Their name will then be added to the Electronic List that is sent out three times a year.

At the end of each calendar year, name plaques of those who have passed that year will be ordered, and they will be installed on the Alumni Memorial Wall behind the Chapel in time for graduation in May.

You can also make a donation for the HCHC Memorial Wall by clicking here or sending checks payable to “HCHC Alumni Association” and writing “Memorial Wall” in the memo section.

Greetings to our treasured Alumni!

We the faithful magnify the learned Teachers of the whole wide world today, for while on earth they glorified the God of all by their words and deeds; and they contribute to saving humanity.
3rd Kathisma from Orthros - Feast of the Three Hierarchs

Having recently celebrated the Feast of the Three Hierarchs, the above words reflect on the achievements of these holy saints and are an appropriate reminder to all of us - alumni and current students. In emulating these saints, we are called to live a holy life in Christ, in word and deed, and through our education contribute to the saving works of the Church, which we all serve.

Since 2022, the Alumni Association of Hellenic College Holy Cross has begun an annual appeal, specifically reaching out to Alumni to support the Alumni sponsored funds of HCHC. These funds are as follows:

1. The Hellenic College Holy Cross Alumni Association Scholarship - established to support current HCHC students in either Hellenic College or Holy Cross. This scholarship is currently awarding approximately up to $1500 per year to qualified recipients.

2. The Alumni Memorial Wall Fund– The Alumni Memorial Wall is located behind the chapel of The Holy Cross. Our beloved brother and sister alumni who have fallen asleep in the Lord are memorialized with their names engraved, mounted on plaques, and categorized by the decade of their graduation. Contributions assist the association with annual name updates and regular maintenance of the memorial. Each name added to the memorial wall costs approximately $225.

3. Alumni Chair, Dogmatic Theology – established to fund a chair in Dogmatic Theology. Currently supplements approximately 30% of this salary.

4. General Alumni Association Fund - to support the events, efforts and operations of the Alumni Association. This is a new initiative going forward as the Voyages Grant is almost endowed.

We are extremely grateful to all our alumni stewards that contributed towards our previous appeals. Collectively since 2022, we have raised over $17,000 towards our efforts directed into these four funds - the Alumni Scholarship, the Alumni Memorial Wall, the Dogmatic Chair, and the Voyages Grant provided primarily from alumni of the 60’s and 70’s (which is now almost endowed at 25k). As the Alumni Council kicks off this year’s appeal, we ask for your prayers and participation. As a reminder to all, the purpose of our association is,

“To promote close fellowship among members; to preserve and strengthen the alumni ties with our alma mater; to share and promote information about the school; to actively recruit prospective students; to provide financial assistance; to exert a positive influence on the operation and policies of the school; to advance in every way the interests of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology; and to “do all things in Him who strengthens.” (Philippians 4:13)”

The alumni council is committed to fulfilling the objectives of this mission statement and we are asking our fellow graduates to join us in this effort. As recipients of HCHC’s academic, spiritual, and social formation, it is our loving duty to offer a gift back to the institution that nurtured us, as well as to the current student body that perpetuates the legacy of the prior generations.

Please consider offering your support to one or more of these alumni sponsored funds. Your contribution will be earmarked towards the fund you specify or split evenly among multiple funds.

We thank you for your generosity and may the Lord continue to guide and protect the President, Deans, Faculty, Staff, Students, Alumni and Benefactors of our Holy School!

In Christ,

HCHC Alumni Council

Your generosity will support the education and spiritual formation of the next generation of Orthodox Christian ordained and lay leaders.
