Lakes, rivers, and streams are often connected to groundwater below the surface. In many areas, groundwater helps feed lakes and keep water levels stable, especially during dry periods. Protecting groundwater helps protect the lakes, ecosystems, and communities that depend on clean water every day.

Spring is a season of renewal, and that includes our groundwater. As rain and snowmelt soak into the ground, they help recharge aquifers that supply drinking water for millions. Protecting these natural processes helps ensure clean, reliable water year-round.

Water is more than a resource, it’s a connection between ecosystems, communities, and everyday life. 💧When students understand water, they begin to understand the world around them — from where their drinking water comes from to how their actions impact the environment.

That’s why hands-on water education matters. It builds curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong sense of stewardship. What's your favorite water activity? Comment below!
