The Arc of Curry County

The Arc of Curry County Our mission is to promote respect, create opportunities, and advocate for equal rights for all people The Arc is a network of over 600 state and local chapters.

The Arc is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and serving them and their families. The Arc’s vision is to see that every individual and family living with I/DD in the United States has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to support their full inclusion and participation in th

e community throughout their lifetimes. Each chapter provides a variety of services, supports, and advocacy for people with I/DD in their regions. No chapter of The Arc is the same which makes this organization unique and better equipped to serve their local regions more successfully. The Arc of Curry County was founded in 2019 by a group of people who believed that they could make the lives of the people with I/DD, their families, and the people who support them better in Curry County. Our mission is to promote respect, create opportunities, and advocate for equal rights for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We have had to pause for the most part since the pandemic started, but we feel very hopeful that we will be able to create some wonderful opportunities in 2022 for Curry County! So stay tuned for more details!

Nearly half of children with autism are at risk of wandering away from a safe setting. To help prevent this, families with a child or adult with autism in the U.S. can apply for a free NAA Big Red Safety Box here: https://nationalautismassociation.org/big-red-safety-boxes-now-available/

*Please note: the box is free for those in need, and you may choose to donate the shipping to help pay it forward so more families can receive a box. If you also need free shipping, be sure to use the link highlighted in yellow.

**The materials in the box are based on U.S. practices & laws and may not be relevant or applicable in other countries. Because of this, the box is available to U.S. residents only. However, we do offer a free downloadable toolkit at: https://bit.ly/3vyFoUq

Satoshi Tajiri - Pokémon inventor

Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, Tajiri grew up with a love of Nintendo’s Game Boy and a passion for insect collecting. He later went on to combine the two into an innovative new Game Boy release called Pokémon, in which gamers would ‘collect’ unique, fictional creatures and use them to battle against their opponents.

The games would serve as the nucleus of what would eventually become the most successful media franchise of all time, including games, books, movies, merchandise and more.
