The Mobile Area Orchid Society Show and Sale was held 06-08 March 2026 at Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, Alabama. Six accredited judges participated in the show: Helen (HB) Blythe-Hart, Andy Braun (Show Judging Chair), Doug Hartong, Randy Johnson, visiting judge from the Louisiana Center Larry Hennessey, visiting judge from the Carolina Center Bob Hydzik, to comprise 2 judging teams. Five students participated in judging: Scott Elliott, Ben Overlie, Samuel Overlie from the Atlanta Center, and Anna Maria Ball, Alena Cerri from the Louisiana Center. Photography of awards was provided by Joe Paine.

The show included seven exhibits with 207 entries, of which 19 were pulled for AOS award consideration. Two plants received flower quality awards. The Show Trophy was awarded to the Gulf Coast Orchid Society with a score of 80 points.

Note that awards are provisional until processed by the American Orchid Society

The Gulf Coast Orchid Society Show and Sale on 31 January 2026. There were 260 plants entered for ribbon judging and 21 were pulled for AOS judging. Seven awards were given out. All photos by Andy Braun unless otherwise noted. All awards not finalized until accepted by the AOS.

Rhyncholaeliocattleya Volcano Plum 'Kilauea' received an FCC of 90 points at the 2025 Alabama Orchid Society Show and Sale on 20 September, 2025.
Exhibitor is Andy Braun.

The description reads:
Nine stunning, well-formed, richly-colored flowers and zero buds on one 40-cm, unstaked inflorescence, plus one immature inflorescence; sepals lanceolate, chartreuse basally, cordovan; petals ovate, chartreuse basally, vibrant garnet, margins lightly ruffled; lip trilobed, midlobe bifid, light chartreuse basally, overlaid rich garnet-red, margins ruffled, side lobes closed over column, fine fuchsia picotee; column cream, tooth on tip, garnet-red, anther cap cream; substance heavy; texture waxy, lip velvety; intensely fragrant.
