Some fotos from the recent presentations to 4th graders at Brookhaven Elementary and Enterprise schools for our annual watermelon contest. All 4th graders in Brookhaven and across the county were given a packet of Congo melon seeds and shown how to grow and participate in the annual contest. They will bring their best melon to the Exchange Club Fair August 2nd to be weighed. 1st place wins $100. 2nd $50. 3rd $25. And all who bring a melon of any size enter the fair FREE saving $15 to enjoy the rides.

The Lincoln County Master Gardeners hosted the Spring District Meeting yesterday at the Catholic Community Center with about 170 attending. Very well done! Kudos to all!

Several of us BCS & Lincoln County Master Gardeners were guests of the Jackson Camellia Society at St James Episcopal Church last evening for their final dinner of the 2025-26 season. Bill Stanley, their president, spoke on propagation of the camellia and about new hybridized camellias that bloom twice or multiple times a year and some that now bloom during summer..
