Core Values:
• We are both the object and the subject of our mission
• We connect the disconnected
• We serve one person at a time
• We give of ourselves
• We prioritize respect, dignity, and hope
• We provide a means to an end
• We don’t ask questions; we just provide service and friendship

Background & History:
• Graduated high school and went into m

• Worked at a small security consulting firm and began volunteering with at-risk youth and soup kitchens.
• Went into ministry with wife and children - sold business, home, car.
• As a result of having too many volunteers at Despensa de la Paz Pantry, 3 individuals asked themselves what more could they do in the community.
• Started Street Life in 2001 as a gang rescue. Goal: Our primary goal is to establish and build relationships with runaway, homeless & street-dependent youth and adults. Many develop addictions, go to prison or die. Through supportive relationships, we help those in need with an end goal that they will become independent, self-sufficient, contributing members of society. To Summarize What We Do:

• Befriend homeless youth and adults, letting them know that there are others who are concerned about their well-being and want to see them safe and successful
• Provide food, clothing, hygiene products, blankets, and other comfort items
• Provide vital information regarding available resources to meet their needs, including housing, education, employment, medical, mental health and other support services
• Offer counseling and support to address the risks associated with street life

How You Can Help:
- Donations save lives!
- Volunteer at a ministry and experience StreetLife firsthand.
- Donate resources for the underserved, such as food, clothing, personal items, etc.

StreetLife Communities - August 26, 2026

“Have you thought about maybe going in to treatment?”, the volunteer asked quietly in the midst of conversation.

She was kind of shopping the items we had to give away. She stopped for just a minute…her eyes went far away for just a flash. She stepped away from the vehicle. “What’s in that van,” she asked.

“Food. Maybe some socks,” the volunteer replied.

“I need socks,” she said.

The volunteer got her some socks. “I’ve known you guys for a long time out here. If we could find a bed for you, would you want to go into treatment?”

She looked down at the ground. “You know, he’s talked about wanting to go in…said he’s had enough. I’m not ready to deal with reality yet, though,” she said.

“Hold onto our number. When you’re ready, shoot us a text and we’ll get to work on it,” the volunteer said. “You’ve dodged a few bullets out here. Both of you have. It’s getting harder and harder to know what youre getting.”

“Yeah. I know,” she said. “I know. Thanks for the stuff. I love you guys.”

“We love you, too,” said the volunteer as she wandered off back to their camp.

We’re just starting the conversation. First time in the more than two years I’ve known them out here. This moment wasn’t her moment, but we’re starting the conversation. This is our community.

Today, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on a sweet community event we were able to host this past Friday with a wonderful partner, Flour Girl & Flame.

Over the summer, we planned a community event where we would provide a pizza buffet for our community. On the day of the event, we all woke up to rain—and we know rain can be a deterrent for our community. After all, who wants to get wet when they can stay dry inside?

But when we arrived and began setting up, we were blown away by the beautiful display the ladies from Flour Girl & Flame had created. From the way the tables were arranged to the care they put into preparing and replenishing the pizza throughout the event, every detail was thoughtful and welcoming.

Our community was fed well and left feeling seen, valued, and deeply cared for.

Thank you to everyone who came out to help! A special thank-you to Nourish MKE for lending us your CHW, and to our wonderful volunteers who joined us as well.

We are so grateful for this community and for the partnerships that make events like this possible. 💛
