Safety Town - Session #4 - Day 5
..And that's a wrap! Today is the last day of our last Safety Town session for Summer 2022!

We celebrated with our final Session #4 Graduation Ceremony and shared with our families everything we learned during the week.

Best wishes to all of our 2022 Safety Town graduates!!!! Hopefully you can come back as a teen volunteer when you get older!.

We have so many to thank for a successful Safety Town 2022 program:

* Elmbrook School District - Rick, Jon, Dave and the rest of the custodial crew at Dixon & Burleigh Elementary schools. Also to the summer school principal Marian who let us use a portion of Dixon the same time the District's summer school program was going on.
* Teacher Deb Sellers
* Volunteer and former, long-time Safety Town Instructor Denise Carroll
* Teen volunteer coordinator Sara Field and all the volunteering teens
* City of Brookfield Fire and Police Departments - Chief Mason, Chief Adlam, Sgt. Grochowski, Officers Mork, Beres, Stommes and Foster.
* Sharon, Cindy and Denise for coming in for the opening day registrations and graduation days.

Thanks!

Safety Town - Session #4 - Day 4

Our favorite day of the week....visits from the City of Brookfield Fire and Police Departments!!! We got to see vehicles, equipment and special gear used to keep our city and citizens safe!

Today we also talked about the importance of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, making a home fire escape plan, staying low to crawl under smoke in a fire and personal safety. It's always important to "Check First" with the grown up in charge to make sure it's ok to go with anyone else.

Safety Town - Session #4 - Day 3

We started the morning out with a playground safety lesson and then we got to go outside to practice!

Then we popped onto the Safety Town to get ready for Friday's graduation day!

Inside we learned about Yell and Tell and letting grown ups know if there is an emergency. We focused on water safety.

Then we talked about poison safety and checking first to make sure it's ok to use or eat that item. We want to avoid "Mr. Yuk" poisonous items.

Safety Town - Session #4 - Day 2

Tuesdays are always fun. We had our pet safety visit from Elmbrook Humane Society. Miss Sheila from the Humane Society brought 3 special dog friends and their humans. We learned about being safe around dogs we know and dog we don't know. It so cool, because we practice our skill with the therapy dogs that visit us.

Of course we got back out onto Safety Town as well to get more practice. Even though it's only day 2, we improved so much from our first day yesterday.

Safety Town - Session #4 - Day 1

We finally made it to Session #4. This past few weeks seem to have flown by so fast. Just like the first three sessions, the first day began with the Safety Town Opening Ceremony.

Then we got right into roadway safety being both a pedestrian and driver. After that we learned our safety songs about wearing a seatbelt, driving safely, and being a good passenger.

Safety Town - Session #3 - Day 5

For our Session #3 Safety Town Graduation last Friday, the rain stopped us from showing our parents the safety lesson outside, so our they observed the children inside. After that we sang our safety songs, received our "graduation" certificates and had cupcakes to celebrate!

Safety Town - Session #3 - Day 4

Fire and Police Safety Day! Today our friends from the City of Brookfield Fire and Police Departments stopped by for our fire and personal safety day! We saw a firefighter dress in gear so we aren't afraid of them if we need their help during a fire. We also saw the ambulance and equipment that is used. The officers also shared their gear and equipment. We talked about personal safety and how you should always CHECK FIRST with a grown up in charge before you leave to go anywhere.

We also practiced "staying low and go" in case there is a fire in our house. We need to crawl underneath the smoke, which can be very toxic. Making a home fire escape map is very important!

Tomorrow is Session #3 Safety Town Graduation Day! We are practicing our safety songs and even learned the fire safety song today!
