Kids in the Congo

Kids in the Congo For $15/month you can join our organization as we provide educational support for children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to attend school

Kids in the Congo is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing tuition assistance and education supplies to children in the Democratic Republic of Congo and neighboring countries. Our students are from impoverished families and villages and without our assistance would not be able to receive an education. Once a child is enrolled in the program, they are guaranteed the opportunity

to continue their education through high school graduation. Kids in the Congo pairs these children with sponsors who donate $120per school year towards the students education. Revenue created by can and bottle redemption and other fundraising activities provides uniforms, backpacks, schools and other educational resources for the students.

2025 has been a productive year for Kids in the Congo. We have 46 children in school from 2nd grade through high school. All have a sponsor paying their school fees.
The well project is nearing completion. The villages of Bibwa and Manganene have clean water for the first time ever. This was our most ambitious project to date.
But 2026 will top this as we begin fundraising for a building which will house a library, chapel and school gathering auditorium for Prince of Peace School in Beni. It will be named for Mark Carron who was a big supporter of the work that Kids in the Congo does. Mark passed away unexpectedly in October and his presence is greatly missed. We are honoring his memory by naming the building the Mark J. Carron Library and Community Center. If you would like to make a contribution, Kids in the Congo has a PayPal account or checks made me mailed to KIC, PO Box 584, Fiskdale, MA 01518.

2 weeks ago, Donald Trump touted a peace deal between the Democratic Republic Congo of Congo and Rwanda that he had brokered. 2 days ago, 400 people were massacred in eastern Congo by Rwandan soldiers and rebel groups. Yes you read that correctly. 400 people. Entire villages of men, women and children. For no better reason than because than a callous disregard for life. My heart weeps for the Congolese people.

Marie-Helene was 15 years old in 2009 when a group of about 30 Islamic militants broke into her home and took her deep into the jungle. As they tied her up to kill her, one of the militants asked if she had any last words. “What you are doing is not right,” she told them. “I know you will kill me, but even so, know that what you are doing is not right. Jesus loves you, and he doesn’t like what you are doing.” Her words seemed to carry a power beyond their simple meaning. “Everybody stood quiet,” she recalled. “Then I heard the leader say, ‘Don’t shed the blood of that one. If we shed her blood, we might get in trouble.” Fearing an unseen force, they untied her and told her to leave.
