"My child's COVID was mild — so we're in the clear, right?"

We sat down with Dr. Uzma Hasan, Regional Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Northern New Jersey Barnabas Health Medical Group, to answer parents' freqeuntly asked questions about Long Covid. She helped open one of the first pediatric Long COVID clinics in the country and is currently researching how it affects kids.

Air quality in Milwaukee and across most of Wisconsin has reached the highest Hazardous AQI levels recorded in history. Here are tips to protect your health:

Limit time outdoors.
Check AirNow.gov before heading outside.
Use AC on ‘recirculate’ mode.
Avoid outdoor exercise.
N-95 masks can help filter harmful particles if properly fitted.
Follow your asthma/COPD action plan.

Staying informed and proactive can help keep your lungs healthy. https://on.lung.org/4aJO11N

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory, and air quality is expected to remain unhealthy through at least Friday. Conditions may change throughout the day as smoke concentrations shift.

The City of Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) is urging all residents to limit their exposure to smoky air, especially children, older adults, pregnant people, and those with asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

During periods of very poor air quality, even healthy individuals may experience eye irritation, coughing, sore throat, or shortness of breath.

Residents are encouraged to:
- Stay indoors as much as possible and avoid strenuous outdoor activity.
- Keep windows and doors closed.
- Run air conditioning on recirculate, if available.
- Use a portable air cleaner or high-efficiency air filter if you have one.

If you must spend time outdoors, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 respirator.

Check on neighbors, family members, and others who may be especially vulnerable to poor air quality.
