UYMC LEAD is a primary component of the purpose and mission of the after-school program. The research and development that went into it were by the staff, instructors, officers, and including the organization's founders. Course material, methods, and instruction continue to be updated and maintained. Instructors are required to complete the required training as well as maintain professional develo

pment credits in order to instruct cadets. LEAD encompasses mentoring, life skills, leadership training, educational and career planning as well as a host of activities and training. LEAD has been an effective leadership tool for youth and also supports the CSSP process (Cadet/Student Success Plan) a vital measurement tool that provides the cadet with a clear plan to stay on set and met goals and or improve and adjust them as well as ensuring completion for graduation and prepared for life. A primal aspect of the program is to provide leadership training that provides leadership skills, ensures they attain and apply the skills to be successful in this area as well as in a career/professional setting.
